Lyr Req: Washington Medley (Derivative Duo)

Subject: Lyr Req: Derivative Duo Washington Medley
From: Haruo

Mrs. Haruo (as she prefers I refer to her online) and I finally made it to NW Folklife late this afternoon, and the first act we caught was one of Washington State's great lesbian acts, The Derivative Duo. They have performed at 20 consecutive Folklifes, but they announced to our, and general, regret that this would be their last, that they are retiring. Although opera is not exactly folk, I suppose, I was greatly surprised not to find them mentioned in SuperSearch here at the Mudcat.

Anyhow, we purchased both of their CDs, Opera for the Masses:
  • Propaganda
    (Mozart/The Magic Flute/Papageno-Papagena duet)
  • The Barbie Doll Song
    (Offenbach/The Tales of Hoffman/Doll Song)
  • Ode to Grethe (Cammermeyer)
    (Bizet/Carmen/The Toreador Song)
  • Carmen's Dreams
    (Bizet/Carmen/Habanera)
  • Eine Kleine Visit (from Mama)
    (Mozart/Eine Kleine Nachtmusik)
  • P.M.S. Aria*
(Mozart/The Magic Flute/Queen of the Night Aria)
  • The Gato in the Grotto or The Gato Uncivil*
    (Rossini/The Barber of Seville/ Overture)
  • Classified
    (Gounod/Romeo and Juliette/Je veux vivre)
  • Yodel Lady Tune*
(Rossini/The Barber of Seville/Una voce poco fa)
  • Coming Out Mozart
    (Mozart/The Magic Flute/Pamina-Papageno duet)
  • The Honolulu Chorus
    (Handel/The Messiah/Hallelujah Chorus)
and Mutiny at the Matinee:
  • Mutiny at the Matinee
    (Verdi/Rigoletto/Questa o quella)
  • Greeting Card
    (Mozart/Piano Concerto #21)
  • Pasta Diva or The Potluck Gourmet*
    (Bellini/Norma/Casta diva)
  • Christmas Quandary
    (Tchaikovsky/Nutcracker Suite/Dance of the Reeds)
  • Cat-a-logue Aria
    (Mozart/Don Giovanni/Catalogue Aria)
  • The Cat Who Loved Too Much
    (Verdi/La Traviata/Un di felice)
  • Obfuscation
    (J. Strauss/Die Fledermaus/Mein Herr Marquis)
  • Rachmaninoff Romance
    (Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2)
  • Fabio's Lament
(Donizetti/The Elixir of Love/Una furtiva lagrima)
  • Party Panic
    (Verdi/The Sicilian Vespers/Merci jeunes amies)
  • It's Not Who You Love (It's Who You Are)*
    (Massenet/Manon/Gavotte)
  • Carmina Winnebago
(Orff/Carmina Burana/O fortuna and Ecce gratum)
But what I'm actually looking for here is the lyrics to a "Washington State Medley" they sang today that's not on either CD. The first part was "I left my heart in Sedro-Woolley", and the second part of the medley was about Puyallup. It was hilarious.

Also, "Mamm'ries". Aside from those two, I think the whole set was on the records; I've marked those I believe they sang today with asterisks above.

I found your request from 2006. Do you still want the lyrics to outr "Northwest Medley" (or I Left My Heart in Sedro Wooley)? I don't understand this site but it's cool.

I have at least one CD of yours, my father bought at a concert (he lived in Marysville, was a folksinger active with Seattle Song Circle). And I've shared it with friends who thought it was marvelous. Haven't listened to it in ages, though. I'm pretty sure it was the opera one.

Drop in again!
