Hello there. I've been looking for the lyrics to a certain song by Stan Rogers called "Second Start." At least, I was told it was by Stan Rogers, and I've been looking everywhere, including the Digital Tradition Database. Unless I overlooked it, I couldn't find it. Does anyone have lyrics to this song? I'll even take chords as well.
Thanks a lot.
Jim

I wish I could sort of give Stan Rogers a Second Start.

I'd seen him play many times, love(d) his music. Seen Garnet a lot too over the past couple decades now (its been that long!?).

But the morning the news of Stan's death in that stupid airplane inferno hit the news, I was sickened. By the loss of the man and his future music. Literally ill.
I'd had bad feelings when I heard a song of his playing on the morning radio show on CBC - they'd hardly ever play anything like that and when I heard it I thought - oh, no, something BAD has happened. Then the local news made it official. I broke.

Since then, I can hardly bear to hear his songs. Many of my old LPs are gone, and I took Fogarty's Cove from the library a year back, and couldn't deal with it even then. Which is a terrible loss. But so many memories come forth of hearing him when he was with us, and of trying to play (or sing) some of his music. The tragedy in a song (amongst others) like Harris and the Mare is just too mixed up with his death itself.
And a lovely song likely 45 Years and the future of love and others of hope gets entangled with the loss of Stan's future.

Oh well. Tragic.

Brian, I suspect that Stan would be VERY dissapointed, if you didn't get yourself 2 or 4 chums, 5 or 6 cases of beer, your old guitar, every album he recorded and spend the night getting 'faced' with friends singing and playing his songs at the tops of your lungs!

His music is TOO good to NOT sing!
