Learning Bluegrass Tunes

Some chums of mine (both here in the UK and in the US) have recently lanuched this site

BluegrassCollege

for anyone - from beginner to expert - who wants to hone his or her skills.

There are audio clips, tabs, dots, solos and even video, and you can choose your tune, speed and instrument. You can play along, either with just your instrument or with the whole band.

And the instructors are all top US session players.

They've asked me to help collect some feedback - so all comments welcome, here or via their site.

Cheers

Tom Bliss

I can't download the videos on my office computer but I'll try it once I get home. Sounds like a great idea, really.

Here's my feedback.

1. I find the print hard to read, both the down-home wobbly kind and the sans serif print used in lists. The most legible fonts are those that have serifs (little blocks at the ends of the strokes, just like here.) We use those blocks to steer our eyes across the page. Think Times New Roman.

2. Downloading music files can affect a person's computer, especially music applications. When someone asks me to download something musical, I always want to know what kind of file it is. mp3, pdf, MIDI? I think you should put that info on your lists of possible downloads.

Otherwise, it seems like a wonderful idea, and I hope it is a great success.
