Lyr Add: She's the Lass I Do Adore (new song)

My wife recently asked me why I never wrote a song for her. I did, & asked her why she forgot it. I had forgotten I had written this until she mentioned it, I think because I didn't think it was a real knock down song but revisiting it I found that I do like it better now, a lot better. I must have written it when I was in the hospital for a transplant, maybe thinking I leave this behind for her if I was to go. Any comments about the song?

She's The Lass I Do Adore
(Barry Finn)

It fell all on a clear spring morn as the sun rose o'er the bloom
The geese & woodcock shook the dew, the fish flew through the foam
I spied a lass that struck my heart, my eyes saw nothing more
It was then that I was lost in love, for she's the lass I do adore

I approached this fair maid for a word but no words could I speak
The drops of sweat rolled from my brow, my arms & legs did quake
My heart was pierced, I could not speak, sound gone for ever more
I knew she had my heart & soul, for she's the lass I do adore

She asked if I would walk with her through the foggy morn
She led me past the ancient oaks, o'er the hills & far beyond
She lightly took me by the hand, my feet felt no forest floor
My heart it soared o'er the land, for she's the lass I do adore

Among the purple heather we sat down, the ground did seem to moan
Branch & bough all seemed to bend, as bluebells blew like horns
She left me there upon my back, till the stars they brightly shone
So amazed in wonder there I lay, for she's the lass I do adore

The years have past before my eyes, since that day in early spring
Still the view is fresh & fair & still the smell so keen
I've wondered far & traveled wide, in the hopes to see once more
The lovely maid that laid me down, for she's the lass I do adore

Nice song Barry, but I think the poetic "o'er" Is more accurate than your "o're".

Hi Effsee, that was my spelling error, thanks
Hi freda, I never really got to witing a tune, I just used the Banks of Ponchatrain.
Barry
Hi, Barry - I corrected the "o're" and changed to "view is fresh & fair" (not "freah" - you wanted "fresh," right?)

Nice choice of tune Barry! the tune that came to my mind when reading it was "Drumdelgie", but that's probably just the Jock in me.

Lovely song Barry, does she go all misty when you sing it?

If anyone ever wrote and sang a song for me I would turn into a puddle of melted marshmallow at their feet.

Cheers
JennieG

Thanks Joe for the corrections (spelly & typos are specialties of mine).

MMario, as the song says (Lass of Maui) "you are welcome to everything".

No JennieG, she asked me if she was drunk when I sang it to her.

Thanks for all the feedback
Barry
