From: Sorcha We have babies! 5 Corgi puppies born yesterday about 4 PM by C section. 3 girls, 2 boys, all Tris. 1 9 oz, 2 10 oz (both BIG for Corgis) and 2 8 oz which is normal, but one of the 8 oz girls had troubles. Tech worked with her for half hour, finally saved her. Mom and babies are home now, all doing well. The little girl in trouble is probably ours. We'll definitely get one, prob 2. I'm soooo excited I can't hardly stand it. Going to see them and peek in the room tomorrow. Yes, they will look like rats. All puppies do at that age but I don't CARE!!! MY babies!!!! |

This past week was my offical end of grandpuppy-sitting. Between her at 8 weeks and my 2.5 yr old grandson, Grandma got no rest! If it was his naptime, it was her awake and playtime and even with a crate it was still Grandma's busy time with the two of them. SHE was like having a baby around who'd just learned how to crawl and get into everything! I told my dau. "been there, done that, done with it, too!" **bg** So, now, my Merlee, the McNab border collie and she have "playdates!" How funny is that?! Many combinations of the colors...black headed tri, etc. The only disallowed colors are too much white above the legs and on the back (a whitely) or a merle in Pembrokes. Cardis are allowed merle. |

The boxers have more wrinkles and "corners" to their faces. I read an essay somewhere talking about the evolution of the dog (i.e., domestication) and its departure from wolves. (I think it was in the New Yorker article in June, 2006, about Cesar Millan). Dogs pay attention to humans, reading their gestures before humans are aware they've transmitted any information. And dogs have managed (collectively) to maintain a more "puppy" look throughout their lives that helps in their success with humans. The author spoke about how wolf pups have big eyes and shorter muzzles, but as they grow their eyes appear smaller and the snout is longer. Dogs are successful, so to speak, because they appeal to humans with their life-long big eyes and less aggressive faces. Except for a few breeds. The pit bulls are one of those breeds--I suspect that people distrust them as much because of the look of those little eyes and powerful mouths, a more menacing wolf-like appearance (even though they don't look like wolves, if you get my drift).
