Dave Hunt in Hospital

Heard on Sunday folk that Dave is in Hospital at the mo.

Hope its not too serious and we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery - I know he does post here occasionally.

I met him a few weeks ago in London where he was hobbling on a pair of walking sticks. Arthritic hip apparently, for which he was awaiting a replacement, and which I presume has now come up. So it looks as though the news is more good than bad.

I second Fred's comments - good news rather than bad. He was actually using two crutches (which he told me he'd" borrowed" rather than been issued - VBG -), and had been given a VERY prompt date for an operation as his hip was in such bad shape. Hopefully the op should make life a lot easier and less painful for him.

Shit Dave.
What the F""ck do you think you're doing?
There are bands out there who are losing serious amounts of cash because of your problem.
Lying around in bed all day means that Dan Quinn will have to go out and get a job...
Have you no conscience???
Good Luck mate.

Ralph, make that a "proper" job!

I take it DAve hasn't been dancing much lately then? One of Saxons had a hip job recently and was cycling in 3 weeks, morris dancing in 4 and rappering in 5!

Hope it all goes well and they measured twice before cutting.

We were talking to Dave just before he went in - it is for a new hip. His doc 'fast-tracked' him and he got an appointment for it in just SIX WEEKS! This was because his hip was 'bone on bone', OUCH!!!!!!!

He was due to go in last Monday so he was tidying up loose ends about the festival at Bishop's Castle at the end of June before he went in.

Hope everything has gone well Dave - and that you haven't driven the nurses round the bend too much.

Lots of love and hugs

Just found this on the Musical Traditions website, so I thought I'd copy it to here:

"I hear that everyone had a good time at Bishops Castle - just a bugger to have missed it!
I am now at home - the first hip having dislocated 4 times, they operated again last Friday and re-did the whole thing (two and a half hour op apparently). So I am now recuperating - I'm not allowed to drive for 12 weeks, so am relying on local friends for transport/shopping etc.

Perhaps you might like to put a bit in the 'News' section of MT so that people know I'm now at home.

Best wishes, sunshine and smiles

Dave Hunt - 28.6.06 "

Great news Dr Sunshine. Suppose you'll be missing at Sidmout?. No doubt a few glasses will be raised on your behalf. In fact, it is compulsory
