22 Feb 99 - 01:44 PM (#59599) Subject: Ukulele Lady From: Bud Does anyone know the chords for this song? I've almost worn out my Arlo Guthrie CD trying to play along. I know, it ain't a deep, moving sort of song, but damn, it's catchy! |
23 Feb 99 - 02:49 AM (#59755) Subject: RE: Ukulele Lady From: John in Brisbane Bud, I've asked an old friend a thousand miles away to cough up the chords. He got them from an Australian published volume of material from the 30's, and re-published here in the 70's. Like a lot of songs from that period it was full of jazz chords which are an absolute pleasure to play or sing harmony with.
If you're playing in G may I suggest you try from the following list of possible chords - G G7 C Cm E7 Em B7 A7 D7 D. If you're not fussed about waiting for the published chords, the list of the ones I gave should pull you through for songs from that period. I can't recommend the Diminisheds and Minor Sevenths out of my head.

05 Jan 02 - 12:17 AM (#621379) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Need CHORDS, Ukulele lady From: Mark Cohen This is written for standard uke tuning, G'-C-E-A, so F is a pretty common key...the F chord on the uke (soprano, concert, or tenor) is equivalent to C on the guitar minus the bottom two strings. The baritone uke is tuned D'-B-G-E, like the guitar (except the D is an octave higher). Confused yet? Aloha, Mark |
