29 Jun 06 - 08:18 AM (#1771920) Subject: RE: BS: Languedoc/Aude area or Brittany...which? From: GUEST,bloke sans cookie Languedoc every time! views, walks, wine, sea, Narbonne market (tripped over a 6 ft long tuna last time I was there, and five different sorts of oyster) Gnarled tomatoes that taste like angel tears...get up, just shorts, t shirt & flip-flops - come back from the beach tangled, salty sand-filled hair, then shower it off and sip something chilled - cook chicken & veg. in one big saute pan - listen to the Midi accent - sit outside & play a guitar for five minutes, spend the next hour listening to and playing with the flamenco guitarists - hear cicadas - pick figs wild passion fruit. Course, Brittany does have lots of artichokes. |

30 Jun 06 - 04:31 AM (#1772514) Subject: RE: BS: Languedoc/Aude area or Brittany...which? From: Kara Brittany. the beaches are splendid you can have wine or cider or try some of the fantastic local beers brewed from traditional black wheat, elderflowers or honey, and if you like folk music ( which as a mudcatter I suppose you do) there is no where better. The weather is not too hot as it is in the South and there are beautiful forests and even an attempt at mountains (normally called small hills anywhere else in the world, but Bretons are small), but mainly beaches and music... |

30 Jun 06 - 05:10 AM (#1772530) Subject: RE: BS: Languedoc/Aude area or Brittany...which? From: Fidjit I've been to Carcassonne on the 14th. July. What a fantstic show!! Highly reccomendable. BUT, It's bloody hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Wines very good though. Not been to Britany but intend to give it a try. Spain? Well try the North Galacian coast or the Green coast as it's known. You can get to Astrias from Stansted (Easyjet) It's where the Spaniards go for their holidays. I keep going back there. Lots of music and the golf is cheaper too! Chas |

It's for a holiday... but for something more special - our honeymoon (awww). Languedoc is sounding good, but Micca's description is lovely of Brittany. The other half isn't good in heat, but me with my French blood fairs much better in the heat. Any tips on places to see? Cheers everyone, a bientot E.W.I.S at home sans cookie |

03 Jul 06 - 06:21 AM (#1774572) Subject: RE: BS: Languedoc/Aude area or Brittany...which? From: Kara Great choice. Although the town of Carnac itself is a bit touristy there are some really good restaurants and in september it should have chilled out a bit. The coast along the Quiberon peninsula is spectaclular. There is an especially lovely little fishing village called Portivy. It is a landing spot of the local fishermen so you can alway get good fish there if you are up early enough. 1-3rd September 50ème anniversaire du Championnat de Bretagne de Musique Traditionnelle - GOURIN (56) and there are more here regards Kara |
