Pandora Internet Radio

Have any of you folks tried this? It's really one of the best music-related things on the Internet. It works on a personal level ... you tell Pandora what artist you want to hear, and it plays songs by that artist and those who have a similar sound, which becomes a little personalized radio station. If it plays some stuff you don't like, you can tell it to not play stuff like that, and conversely if you hear something you really like, you can tell it to play more things similar to that particular style. Previously, I've only tried more rock & roll-related music (Belle & Sebastian, The Divine Comedy) but tonight I made a Ralph McTell-related station tonight and so far I've gotten stuff by him, Incredible String Band, Martin Carthy, Nick Drake, Stan Rogers and Bert Jansch. Good stuff.

It's free too.

Damn this sounds like an advertisement, but oh well, I love it.

Mudcat is where I heard about it first, and I am not only a rabid fan, but I randomly call friends and relations to recommend!

What fun!

Heard about it from Amos in this thread. Love it, but last I checked they needed to add to the classical. Told my son about it earlier this year and he nearly flipped out over how kewl it is. Thanks for the reminder, Nathan! Good to *see* you.

Whenever I've tried it I always get.... Kate Rusby. Now't agin the lass but she ain't my cuppa char. No matter how many times I tell Pandora that my listening taste is different I continue to be rusbied at the next visit. Pandora is a transatlantic Yorkshire conspiracy; I'm certain of it.

all very interesting....but if I get what I WANT on the first try, it then goes off at whatever angle it chooses for succeeding songs, some very nice, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't tell me what I am hearing. I saw a link to Roscoe Holcomb, and played something by him....then it was followed by some nice guitar player with no clue as to whom. Interesting, but frustrating.
