BS: Le Quatorze Juillet

Today as we all know [don't we?] is the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille in Paris on this date in 1789.
Now if you were to storm somewhere as a part of a revolution, where would you storm, and why?

The white House. No need to ask why.

The G8 Summit. Don't think I need to explain why on that one either...;)

Disney World.

Ummm... general principles, I guess. (Plus it would look cool.)

Vive la republique! And isn't the point of the storming to liberate all the prisoners? Hmmm- -have to think about that!

one of my great experiences is of being part of an 800-strong group of women who stormed pine gap, an american military base in the central desert of Australia, in 1983.

CarolC,

I now have visions of a band of well nourished and over-clean "sans culottes" (nice neat, cartoon like patches on the clothing, of course) parading around the burning wreckage of the Magic Kingdom, with the head of a certain rodent impaled on a pike.

Well, from the freeing prisoners point of view, I guess it would have to be wherever the Enron Three are currently held after their unjust extradition to the USA.

LOL

However, if it's about freeing prisoners, we certainly have more than enough of those to consider... Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib (and other prisons in Iraq), the secret prisons the CIA operates in Europe and elsewhere, people serving in "for profit" prisons in the US for possession of marijuana...

Allons, enfants de la patrie; glory-day is here!!! Liberte! Egalite! Fraternite! Vive la republique! Barman, a round of cold, white vin (extremely) ordinaire for everyone. Happy birthday, France. Many happy returns. Thank you, Sieur de LaFayette.          Tw

Do you hear the people sing?
It is the song of angry men;
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums,
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

(Oops, wrong French revolution...but I think I'll put my Les Miz Complete Symphonic Recording on really loud and sing along while I clean the house today. It's the most Bastille Day-esque music I've got. ;)

No faith have we in prince or peer
Our own right hand the chains must shiver
Chains of hatred, greed and fear...

Oops. Wrong Revolution. Happy birthday, French Revolution
