Legends (by the HoDads) - any history on them?

I have a 45 RPM from around 1962. Let me clarify that: I have a 45 somewhere in my attic and as hot as it has been its probably fused into a stack of other such vinyls. Nonetheless, it was a "Surf" sound. Insturmental titled "Legend" or "Legends" by a group which called themselves The Ho-Dads. OK, OK, When you've stopped laughing I would like to know if anyone has ever heard of this group or has any history on them. I think the lable was Dunhill but I'm not sure. The B side was another insturmental titled "Raunchy". The next cooling trend we have I'll redouble my efforts to locate said record but in the interim, anybody?

It was entitled "Legends" and the group's name was The Ho-dads, spelled with the hyphen. I will dig around tomorrow, Slag. Gotta get. It's late and I'm old. G'night.

Haha I've never forget when I first found "hodad" in the dictionary as a little kid. For the next several years, it became the favored insult by my sister and I (preceding the "churl" years)

I understand it means "those who hang around the surfing crowd without being surfers themselves". Or is there an additional meaning?

an additonal use of that term is the name for a tree-planting crew
Hoedads Reforestation Cooperative based in Eugene, Oregon
they were active in oregon, washington and idaho and they were a progressive group, a co-operatively owned business.

they use a specialised tool (a hoedad) to dig the hole for the tree seedlings.

George P. Thank You! I thought that might be one lost to history. I had searched Amazon before and it never came up. Seemed that virtually no one had ever heard of it. Like Cowabunga!

i should find a picture postcard of my ex's book store in pacifica
the Checkered frog...had as a mascot those bean bags toys usually made from hound's tooth check--for whatever reason.

the building had murals larger than life on the side painted by surfers
in the off season..or maybe hodads?

Hey, open mike. I in lived and surfed Pacifica in 1964-5 and in 1967! Linda Mar beach. In '67 I lived in a beach cabin at Shelter Cove, Pedro Point before the road washed out!

George P. It must be magic because I had Googled "Legends" and "The Ho-Dads" many times in the past and found nothing. Maybe someone was listening!??

The question still remains: Who were the Ho-Dads? Names? Continuing careers? (God forbid) Viet Nam? Where are they now?
