I wandered in here looking for information and found a really terrific site and a real warehouse of info as well as a lot of nostalga, humor, debate, silliness and good fun. I just wanted to acknowledge everybody. You may want to move this post to the archives shortly as it's not really a "topic". Just wanted to say "hi", Slag |

22 Jul 06 - 05:31 PM (#1790127) Subject: RE: BS: Hi everybody! From: Little Hawk You simply can't trust a man named "Divis Sweeney"! It's just too much...it's like being named "Paddy Shamrock" fer Chrissake! (grin) Watch out for Divis, Slag, he freebases green Romula ale and hangs out with leprechauns. (Other than that, of course, he's a great guy...) Well, you have to be warned that you may run into a chimpanzee in a trenchcoat and fedora. His name is Chongo. Be polite or he'll pop you one. He's always on the lookout for anti-primate prejudice. |

22 Jul 06 - 09:47 PM (#1790319) Subject: RE: BS: Hi everybody! From: Little Hawk I looked up "Impeach My Bush" on Google. Hard to believe, but yes, it is a real music CD by some idiot called Peaches. Just reading about it and perusing the ugly song titles on it reminded me keenly how very much I hate and despise most rap music. |

23 Jul 06 - 12:58 AM (#1790408) Subject: RE: BS: Hi everybody! From: Slag Well, what a great and hearty welcome. A little about me. I've lived in Nor Cal since '79, five years in Marin Co. and the rest in Lake Co., about 110 miles north of SF. I'm a native Californian, born and raised in Delano CA, down by Bakersfield. I taught myself how to chord the guitar and when pushed I can pick a tune out OK. Then I taught myself the harmonica, the ocarina and I play the radio pretty well. I've sung in church choir, CSUB chior and in the shower a lot. I'm eclectic in my musical tastes. I gravitate to the minor chords in most things. Leonard Cohen in great, Ray Lynch, Keali'i Reichel, Flat and Skruggs, Moody Blues, Bob Marley and others. I love the digereedoo (?) and the Peruvian pan pipes in all their forms. Music and nuclear physics go well together. Their geometries and symmetries are tapestries: things of beauty, and both are largely mysteries to me. I like humor, irony, sardonicisms and I can get a little sarcastic on ocassion. There is a music in language and that is probably my forte. I'm retired from a temporary job that lasted 23 years on my way to doing and being something else. Most of my stories are long so I won't bore you with them and I sure don't want to relive the embarrassment of some of them. Well, that's just a general sketch. I'll save a little for later on. Thanks again for your warm welcome! |

23 Jul 06 - 08:14 PM (#1791154) Subject: RE: BS: Hi everybody! From: Slag I'm just finishing a 3 volume work "The World of Physiscs" largely Nobel Laureate essays. I've read Brian Green's "The Elegant Universe" and other worthy tomes in the past. I like the title "The Zen of Physiscs" Its intriguing. Astronomy was my first love and it goes hand-in-hand with physics so I gravitated (intended) to the latter. You are certainly a far-flung group. With regards to Little Hawk, I'm sort of collaborating with him and his quest to get 5000 post and earn the undying favor of Winona or is it Wynona? |
