Anyone? |

The version I have (Noel Coward Songbook, 1953) is in Db. Would you like in some other key? Mick |

Seeing thread started by Clinton I was all ready with some arsey comment. Just shows howe wrong you can be. When and where is your play Clinton? Let's see how many Mudcatters we can get there. With a person as strong as you it HAS to be good. |

27 Jul 06 - 02:56 AM (#1794296) Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'I'll See You Again' by Noel Coward From: Mick Pearce (MCP) In that case Clinton, if you look here: Midnitesun - I-Songs, you'll find the lyrics, chords and a midi file for the song (right-click the link on the page, Save As.. to copy it to your machine). The midi has the full version of the song (arranged for piano), the I'll see you again... coming in at 1:35 mins into the tune, when it changes to waltz time. Sadly my only Noel Coward recording of this song has it as part of a medley and he only sings the I'll see you again... part. If you'd like that PM me and I'll send you an mp3 of that. Mick |

Have you listened to the CD which came out about a decade ago called Red, Hot & Blue. Rock & pop stars & Tom Waits doing their renditions of Noel Coward songs. It may take a while to get the mental shift of what the renditions are about but it is one of my favourite albums. I have to admit that I've never heard of the song 'I'll See You Again' so I'll go hunting so that I can hear it. Helen |

27 Jul 06 - 07:15 PM (#1794943) Subject: ADD: 'I'll See You Again' by Noel Coward From: Joe Offer I'll See You Again from Bitter Sweet (Noel Coward) Carl: Now Miss Sarah, if you please, Sing a scale for me. Sarah: Ah--Ah--ah--- Carl: Take a breath and then reprise In a different key. Sarah: Ah--Ah--ah--- Carl:
All the pleasure I have found in showing you The different ways That one may phrase The changing light, and changing shade; Happiness that must die, Melodies that must fly, Memories that must fade, Dusty and forgotten by and by. Sarah:
Till our Destiny shall let us meet again Carl:
May come too late. Sarah:
Why will the foolish tears Tremble across the years, Why shall I feel so sad, Treasuring the memory of these days Always? Carl:
Whenever Spring breaks through again; Time may lie heavy between, But what has been Is past forgetting. Sarah:
across the years will come to me; Though my world may go awry, In my heart will ever lie Just just the echo of a sigh, Goodbye. Reprise
I live each moment through again. Time has lain heavy between, But what has been Can leave me never; Your dear memory Throughout my life has guided me. Though my world has gone awry, Though the years my tears may dry I shall love you till I die, Goodbye! * * * * Though my world has gone awry, Though the end is drawing nigh, I shall love you till I die, Goodbye! from The Lyrics of Noel Coward (by Noel Coward, 1965) Nice song, Clinton. Thanks for introducing us to it. -Joe- |
28 Jul 06 - 04:22 AM (#1795224) Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'I'll See You Again' by Noel Coward From: ard mhacha Helen,The rock and pop stars will perform a minor miracle if they can up-tempo this lovely slow melody, the song was a favourite with the older residents of our street when the rent-man called. |
29 Jul 06 - 12:38 AM (#1795949) Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'I'll See You Again' by Noel Coward From: Helen ard mhacha, They weren't necessarily up-tempo versions. They were well thought-out interpretations, in a different style to how they would have been originally performed. If you can find the CD on some of the online CD stores you might be able to get a fleeting impression of each song, but I doubt that it would make much sense unless you heard the whole of each track. The artists include Annie Lennox/Eurhythmics, The Neville Brothers, Kirsty McColl & The Pogues, Tom Waits, Sinead O'Connor, KD Laing, Les Negresses Vertes, David Byrne (fromTalking Heads), Jimmy Somerville, etc. I'm listening to it now. Haven't played it for a while. I've played it so many times that it has burned a groove in my brain. (I heard that it helps to listen to your favourite music if you are undergoing surgery, or in post-op healing. This would be one of my choices.) Helen |
