Ham Pamela Waechter, a 58 year old employee of the Seattle Jewish Federation was murdered when Naveed Afzal Haq forced his way into the Federation offices on Friday and began shooting at women there. Five other women, including one who was pregnant, were wounded. There are several articles on the web...but my post that contained links to several of them just got erased. you can google Seattle attack hostage and find them. apparently the suspect was stopped earlier in the day for a traffic incident, but was released as all documents seemed to be in order. He is a U.S. citizen.\ |

As with Columbine, little could have been done to forestall the motive - every day, diseased minds conjure up such "needs for revenge", based on whatever excuse they perceive in a world event. As with Columbine, the opportunity was there - availability of the means to commit the crime. As with Columbine, I fear we will learn little from this incident to help avoid future ones. |
