01 Aug 06 - 12:54 PM (#1798942) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Let the Circle Be Wide (Tommy Sands) From: Jim Dixon A recording of Tommy Sands singing LET THE CIRCLE BE WIDE can be heard or downloaded at Jay Ungar and Molly Mason's Dancing on the Air Radio Archive. (I just discovered this web site and I need to explore it more!) The site is rather complicated in structure. I don't think I can link directly to the page that has the song. You have to search for it, but it's worth the trouble. |

Please correct me if you hear something different. LET THE CIRCLE BE WIDE Let the circle be wide 'round the fireside Lovely song, similar in sentiment to Allister MacGillivray's Here's to Song which we've discussed here in the past. |

10 Mar 10 - 08:55 PM (#2861505) Subject: Lyr Add: LET THE CIRCLE BE WIDE (Tommy Sands) From: Harpin Hank Hogan Wow thanks for the above Lyrics (saved me a lot of typing) but I heard it sung by someone who sounded to me like Pete Seeger (Maybe it was Tommy Sands?) on RTE Sunday Misc. with a few differences: LET THE CIRCLE BE WIDE (Tommy Sands) Chorus: Let the circle be wide 'round the fireside And we'll soon make room for you Let your heart have no fear for there's no strangers here, Just friends that you never knew Shake the hand of the man from the far distant land Meet him and treat him well And the young girl so fair with the wind in her hair, She's got a story to tell - Chorus: So ... Let the circle be wide 'round the fireside And we'll soon make room for you Let your heart have no fear for there's no strangers here, Just friends that you never knew There are songs to be sung, There are rafters to be rung, There is reason to rosin your bow, There are stories of old, and there's new ones to be told, for to carry away when you go, Chorus: So... Let the circle be wide 'round the fireside And we'll soon make room for you Let your heart have no fear for there's no strangers here, Just friends that you never knew We will travel along on the wings of a song With a mind that is open and free If we close our eyes to the other side We're just half of what we can be Chorus: So... Let the circle be wide 'round the fireside And we'll soon make room for you Let your heart have no fear for there's no strangers here, Just friends that you never knew END -- I did not hear the verse below, but I like it. __________________________________________________ So we'll pass the bottle 'round and we'll drink another round. That our friendship will always remain For how can you tell when we say our farewells When will we all meet again? ____________________________________________________ Anyway, I like the song and all the lyrics above, Thanks for the help !
