My daughter came into the room yesterday and stood agog as I read it aloud. I suppose for collectors it is a catastrophe. But think about it, a dog guarding teddy bears. Natural dog toys. Duh. |

03 Aug 06 - 01:35 PM (#1800692) Subject: RE: BS: Elvis's Teddy Bear destoyed by guard dog From: sian, west wales Well, I heard in on BBC Radio news last night and it was hysterical. They read it in a comparitively dead-pan voice as though it was right up there with other world disasters. Had to remind myself ... we're talking teddy-bear here. Get a grip. Poor newsreader seemed to be suppressing a few editorial remarks ... There's a famous Welsh folk song about burying a beloved pig, and one about a mule who died carrying coal; will this teddy be eulogized, one wonders? sian |

03 Aug 06 - 03:40 PM (#1800772) Subject: RE: BS: Elvis's Teddy Bear destoyed by guard dog From: Liz the Squeak It was the insurance company that insisted on a guard dog because of the nature of the bears' ownership.... bet they're rethinking that one! The report I read in the Metro free paper has a bit more info. Bearing (sorry) in mind whose teddy it was... what do you think the 'rogue scent' could have been....? LTS |
03 Aug 06 - 03:41 PM (#1800774) Subject: RE: BS: Elvis's Teddy Bear destoyed by guard dog From: Little Hawk LOL! I love these kind of stories. They're such a relief from the regular news. You have to wonder what was going through that doberman's head? Perhaps he felt insulted by being asked to guard teddy bears. Perhaps he had endured watching people fawn over the priceless teddy bears for just one time too many.... |
03 Aug 06 - 03:48 PM (#1800779) Subject: RE: BS: Elvis's Teddy Bear destoyed by guard dog From: Alba To the tune of.....yip Teddy Bear...* smirk * Barney being the hound in question.... An ditty for the Dead Ted(dy) Barney let me be, your savaged Teddy Bear. Pull my Arms and legs apart leave stuffing everywhere. Oh let me be...Barney's Teddy Bear. Barney don't want to rip up Dollies, cause Dollies are too tough He don't want rip up people acuse people just ain't filled with fluffy stuff. Oh Barney grab this Teddy Bear. Rip my Head right off my neck, leave Bear bits everywhere oh let me be, (oh let it be) your Deady Bear! Now it's a savaged, headless Teddy Bear |

It was because the Spirit of Elvis manifested itself via the Teddy Bear at an inopportune moment. Can you imagine how freaked out that poor dog was when Teddy stood up and began singing "Jail House Rock"? |

04 Aug 06 - 02:26 AM (#1801182) Subject: RE: BS: Elvis's Teddy Bear destoyed by guard dog From: Ella who is Sooze we watched the local news (as we're in the vicinity of the happening) and it showed them taking the dog BACK into the shop for the cameras.... It showed a rather bemused dog skulking around, looking MORE than guilty, and when the owner was being interviewed, the dog was having a sneaky nibble at something that resembled a Garfield. Just a teansy wee nibble, enough for a taster... very very funny (I know it's not for the owners of the teddys), but WHO and I mean WHO (in extra big letters that I can't do) in their right mind would put any dog in to the same room as all those teddies. The poor dog must have thought all his Christmasses had come at once. I have such a picture of this dog, ears back throwing teddies in to the air, doing the death shake, pouncing. Well, at least he had a nice time. The owner said of Mabel - Elvis's bear... Well all I can think of is that the dog must have been jealous as a while before I had been stroking the bear and saying to the dog what a lovely bear the bear was. (The cherry on the top bit for me - that was it... I was helpless) EWIS |

They suffer from "Separation anxiety". Too bad, it's one of the easiest problems to solve if you know how. I've had a dozen dogs and never a problem with that behavior. |

When he released "Teddy Bear" he received lots of bears. I've got a birthday card somewhere showing Elvis with some of his collection. sandra (bear collector) |
