A bunch of shanty singers from the Portsmouth, NH, Portland, Maine area & I believe from the Cape Ann, Mass area will be getting together on this Saturday (8/5) from 2 to 4 in the afternoon & then from 6:30 to 8:15 evening then we'll go immediately to Market Square which will be blocked off to traffic (I think) to join Jeff Warner and Bob Webb, who'll already be underway, for a shanty blast. There'll be a fair amount of mudcatters there, maybe those that are going would check in here. The USS Eagle is a 295' Bark (Barque) (3 masts, the forward 2 are fully rigged & the aft is fore an' aft) with an average complement of 200 bodies, so there should be one hell of a chorus singing with us. The last time, about a month ago on the Bluenose II, we did this there were about 20 of us in the afternoon & probably 15 of us in the evening & it was pretty much a great time. This will most likely be a much larger & grander time. John Roberts will be preforming at a festival in Salem, Ma, so he'll be on hand to lend his fingers & mouth to the festivities. Besides Barry Finn and Jeri, other Mudcatters coming include myself, Bat Goddess, Pirate of Cape Ann, Doryman and mate, and Anglo, along with most of the NH regulars from the shanty sessions and the Cape Ann crew from Gloucester. There are no admission charges for any of today's events, but if coming by car, think serriously about using the municipal parking garage -- Tom |

The ship was spectacular. The CG crew were very polished and helpful. Tom and Linn....thanks for a wonderful day of song and good company....lots of good company.
