06 Sep 06 - 08:05 PM (#1828792) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: Girl Friday Sad news today at Folkmob. Jenny Radford died yesterday. The funeral will be next Thursday, September 14th, one o clock at Falconwood Crem. Most of the regulars will be going, and to the wake that afternoon at the Tudor Barn. Some of us will be at Knockholt from Wednesday, others delaying their arrival to Thursday or Friday. Len and I will camp from Wednesday, but go to the funeral via Orpington. Anyone else arriving Wednesday? |

09 Sep 06 - 05:47 AM (#1830541) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: GUEST,sue forde There is a slight change of plan concerning Jenny's cremation, instead of taking place at falconwood as we originally thought it will be at Lewisham crematorium, Verdant Lane, London SE6, at 1.00pm Thursday 14 September. This will be followed by a celebratory wake at The Tudor Barn, Well Hall Road, Eltham from 2.00pm. Sorry for the confusion Sue |

17 Sep 06 - 03:44 PM (#1836815) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: GUEST,woodsie It was excellent - Capella, TDL, Bassic, Shanty Jim, Essex Girl, Tudor Barn Owls, FolkMob and special Guest Jops from Saffron Walden. 17 Sep 06 - 08:15 PM (#1836989) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: Girl Friday Yep. Saturday was great. Woodsie has glossed over the other events... mega dose of thunderstorms, really spectacular, thick fog, or low cloud, whole flock of sheep doing what sheep do best on Thursday morning... all over the campsite.... then there's the plague of crane flies.... high winds.... marquee blown across field... no interest in workshop... more interest in pub..... never mind.... T.DL. found much material for new songs. |
17 Sep 06 - 08:56 PM (#1837016) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: GUEST,Geraldine The Goat Sorry you had problems Richard. I didn't let you down love. There were about 50 of your wooly friends waiting for your arrival. I got them to all come into the folkmob field. Too baaaaaaa..ad. Love Gerri |
18 Sep 06 - 05:00 AM (#1837196) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: woodsie Storm was on Wednesday night. When it started bucketing down Mr Bassic said to Graham and myself "jump in my car I'm going to the Tally Ho" How could we refuse? Sheep got into our field through a hole in the fence during the night - but thanks to an angry Girl Friday informing the farmer the next morning the field was speedily de-sheeped by two trusty sheep dogs the following morning. The new folkmob marquee was erected by Graham and Mumblin' Len on Thursday but unfortunately was left unattended for 5 minutes on Friday afternoon and blew away! We had a great laugh though. It was definitly one of the best knockholts I've attended! |
18 Sep 06 - 05:43 AM (#1837225) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: Richard Bridge So that's back to the old tent then? |
18 Sep 06 - 08:00 AM (#1837279) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: woodsie They did manage to get the marquee back fron t'other end of field. It had several twisted tubes and broken bolts so needs serious repair and reinforcing plus better rope and pegs than the crap that was supplied with it. Still we should have it back in good working order for mext June. P.S. the larkins blonde (4.6%) was great! |
18 Sep 06 - 09:37 AM (#1837370) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: GUEST,John Hudson Well, seems like me & Kit missed a good weekend. Any hope of getting the CORRECT date for next summer's camp published and confirmed well in advance. |
18 Sep 06 - 11:57 AM (#1837462) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: woodsie Knockholt summercamp is usually held on the weekend nearest to the solstice. Which I calculate to be Weds 20th June - Sun 24th June. BUT as I said before this has to be confirmed by folkmob leader Dave Kenningham. Watch this space. |
18 Sep 06 - 12:06 PM (#1837473) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: Richard Bridge Put lorry ties over the top of the marquee and use giant pegs in the ground... Should work. |
18 Sep 06 - 07:11 PM (#1837799) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: David Kenningham Hi, Just to say that I am not the Folkmob leader. I am a member of the committee. Please let me have any comments and I will pass them on to Pat who is the chairman. I went late this time and spent Friday and Saturday at Knockholt and totally enjoyed the sessions. The really bad weather mentioned had gone (sorry could not do much about Wednesday and Thursday) and both nights were warmish and yes I did stay up to very nearly the last songs (which I admit I have not done for many a year). The farmer is really good with sorting out the field for us and I understand that the sheep and resulting problems were caused by a gap in a field and he dealt with it as soon as he realised what had happened. If anything I think we should thank all the efforts that went into organising the weekend. And look forward to June 2007 for the next festival. The marquee will look fantastic. |

19 Sep 06 - 08:53 AM (#1838226) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: GUEST,Essex Girl sans cookie Yes a great weekend, even though I only made it from Saturday lunchtime. The Larkins blonde was only 3.6% Woodsie, thank God, otherwise I'd never have made it through to the early hours. Plenty of good uninterrupted singing and playing. Mick Forde excelled himself!!! and it was lovely to see Jim and his family there. |

20 Sep 06 - 08:51 PM (#1839648) Subject: RE: Autumn Knockholt 2006 From: Girl Friday Wouldn't you be angry if you looked out and saw defecatin' sheep all over the shop? Thanks Tony for bringin' your dogs. Thought he'd got 3, 2 collies and a terrier. They worked really well and got the sheep penned up in no time. We were offered a lift to the pub but were cooking our dinner at the time. Then we sat back and watched the weather's impersination of a disco. We could see that the marquee was in trouble, Len, Fisheye, and Babs re-pegged it once. But it was soon doing an impression of a barage balloon, and the wind was nipping at it's toes. Unfortunately, most people had gone to the pub. Graham had only just returned from work when it took flight, and he did his action man impression, wrestling it to the ground. Thanks to Tony Petty for the loan of his piggin' wellies. Possibly the most entertaining Knockholt yet! |
