Sometimes She Forgets
(Steve Earle)

If you see her out tonight
And she tells you it's just the lights
That bring her here and not her loneliness
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets
If she tells you she don't need a man
She's had all the comfort she can stand
You'd best believe every word she says
But don't give up 'cause sometimes she forgets

Sometimes she forgets that not too long ago she swore
She wasn't gonna let her heart be broken anymore

So now she keeps it locked away
It grows colder every day
And it won't warm to any man's caress
That's what she says but sometimes she forgets

Sometimes she forgets that not too long ago she swore
She wasn't gonna let her heart be broken anymore

Hey now don't give up 'cause sometimes she forgets

Not likely you'll find the tune, but click here to find lyrics and chords on Cowpie.
Written by Steve Earle, also recorded by Travis Tritt.

I won't post it because it's definitely not folk.

Well, heck, if it's a pop song of no historic significance, why post it at Mudcat? It's not a horrible thing to post the lyrics, and I wouldn't have posted anything at all if I had seen Janie's post. We posted at the same time.

You can click the Cowpie link I posted and get the song - and chords.

I'd never in a million years refer to it as a pop song either. It has more of an old timey, country bluesy feel.

I'm with Joe, I don't think he called Steve Earle "of no significance" the song is not of historic importance and is readily available on other sites which he has generously pointed out. I like the song and sing it but won't claim it to be something that it isn't.
It certainly does not have an old timey feel. If I was looking for a label then I guess Honky Tonk would fit it better and there ain't nuthin' wrong with that.

We have a copy of the song by Kasey Chambers. Any good?
