Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at Glaisdale again on Sunday just gone, the only slight minus being the domino percussion team (why don't they make rubber dominoes for a quieter life, sure I don't know?).

Thanks to Mr & Mrs Raggytash for organising it.

Some of the photos are a bit out of focus as I didn't want to use flash too much. You can see them here. The pictures are quite small viewed as a slideshow, if anyone wants a copy of the original don't for goodness sake order a print, pm me and I'll send one

There is also a quick video sweep round the room which is about 11.5mb but gives an idea of what was going on here. It will only be up there for a week and then the link will die but is good for up to 100 downloads

And thanks to the unpaid domino cabal who provided such a welcome diversion to all that singing.

Sorry about that Nick, just noticed you had mentioned the music loving locals. Was it my imagination or were they a little more noisier than last year, or was it they had more practice?

don't forget thet the dom players are there every sunday.
last year they moved to the lower level and were obviously quieter.
a group came up on the train and sat at the lower level and made more noise than enough!
anyway a smashing afternoon raggy.
any more pics that people want to post?

I think they were probably more pissed than last year, Mick

It was not as if we had just descended on that pub out of the blue.We have used the pub a coupla times before and they know full well in advance we would be coming en masse.

The landlord could have made alternative arrangements for that lot -it is a big pub.I did notice that the rest of the locals were either listening or stood at the furthest end of the bar so they could have a conversation in peace.

Take your point Wigan, but them locals set out from the start to make as much noise as possible, especially in the quieter songs.
Will it be ok then if next year the locals want the juke box on, run a quiz or a karaoke competion do we sit and compete with that?

Ignorant behavioure like that spoilt for a lot of people what should have been a great afternoon.

I remember Penny and I curling up with embarrassment during the first Glaisdale trip, because the knobend who turned the TV volume up to 11 was our neighbour at the time

Just got back from Whitby, Thanks for the photos Nick, I took a grand total of £175.00 up last Sunday, once again the Rescue Boat crew and committee have asked me to pass on their grateful thanks for all your efforts.
I will try and have a word with the landlady re dominoes for next year to see if some amicable arrangement can be found by which all are happy, or peraps we should try to engage them to sing with us as opposed to playing against us. I did have a brief conversation with them just before leaving and them said they had enjoyed the music, so lets hope us can enliven the lad a touch more next year.

Cheers

Raggy
