It went something like this: I had a duck and that little duckie died, I put her eggs under a hen and she seemed satisfied. Clk37 repeated the request a few days later (with slightly different words: "poor duckie" and "them eggs") and still got no response. I've done a Google search and came up with nothing about a song; however, Penny Cyclopaedia of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, 1840, says that putting duck eggs under a hen was a common practice. |
