Does anyone know where Chris Foster is these days only I've just come across a 1974 Norwich Folk Festival programme which included him & I'd like to let him know about the forthcoming weekend that I've organised to commemorate the 10th. anniversary of Alex Atterson's death. He probably won't be able to attend but perhaps he'd still like to know about it.

He is in the UK at present and we had him as guest at Traditions at the Tiger, Long Eaton last Sunday night (3rd Sept)where he proved that he is still as good as he ever was.

Coo!

Just checked his website and there is no information about his visit, although I seem to remember that there were rumours of him coming over around now. Anymore info? He is a great guitarist, singer and intepreter of material and I'd love to see him again. If anyone is curious and sees his name around, catch him while you can - comparisons with Carthy and Jones are not trivial in my opinion.

Hullo, DaveSatwork. Do you have a uk contact no for Chris only I've tried his e-mail & it doesn't seem to want to work. You should be able to pm me : if you become a Mudcat member you'll certainly be able to. Thanks.

From: GUEST,Chris Foster - yes that's the Chris Foster!!

Just discovered this thread after a friend passed it on. Kind of reminds me of the encounter I had at Sidmouth Festival a few years back when someone came up and said "didn't you used to be Chris Foster?"

Well folks I still am me and just to bring people up to date. I do now live in Iceland as of 2 years ago. I am still performing as much as possible, but as one promoter recently commented when declining my offer to come and play "times and tastes have changed". I am doing solo gigs and more often playing as one half of the duo FUNI with my partner, the great Icelandic traditional singer Bára Grímsdóttir. You can read more about us at:

www.myspace.com/funireykjavik
I also have my own page at:

myspace.com/chrisfosterfolk

I am currently trying (with some difficulty) to put together a tour in England for next June, offering the option of either booking FUNI or me solo. All and any contacts, offers etc. will be very greatfully received. A measure of the difficulty of getting a tour together is the fact that the gig at The Tiger last September (along with doing the Wadebridge Festival) was the only one I managed to do. The other 2 I got had to be cancelled because they were too far apart and simply weren't enough to make the tour I was trying to organise for Bára and I viable.

For those of you who can't contact me through myspace you can go to my old website at www.folkmusic.net/chrisfoster for an email address.

It's gratifying to find that I haven't been totally forgotten.

Hoping to see people around in the coming months and years....

Chris Foster

Chris, nice to hear from you. I shall be looking forward to seeing you at Bothy Folk Club Southport on th 24 June next year. It was I who persuaded Clive to book you on your first visit to the Bothy all those years ago. (oh er I suddenly feel old).
Cheers
