From: alanabit I could be barking up the wrong tree here, but looking out of my window, I can see a bit missing from the top of the moon. Am I witnessing a partical lunar eclipse this evening? I should add that I am watching it from Köln/Cologne, Germany. |

07 Sep 06 - 05:04 PM (#1829512) Subject: RE: BS: Partial lunar eclipse? From: Don Firth I didn't hear anything about it until I opened this thread and spotted Alan's post. Here's a diagram of where it was visible. Not in the U. S. of A., which, I guess, accounts for no mention of it in the news (very parochial country, this). Don Firth |

08 Sep 06 - 02:51 AM (#1829786) Subject: RE: BS: Partial lunar eclipse? From: open mike the farmer's almanac lists the next ecipse as an annular eclipse of the sun on sept. 22 it will be mostly visible from the atlantic ocean and south america. a partial eclipse will be visible from west and south africa and antarctica. On nov. 8 there will also be a time when mercury will be seen passing across the face of the sun. it is very important to use the same viewing precautions as with solar eclipse viewing--and even more so as mercury is only 1/200 of hte size of the sun so will not shade much of the blinding light of the sun. for more astronomical and astrological info see: http://www.almanac.com/ http://www.farmersalmanac.com/ |
08 Sep 06 - 03:36 AM (#1829798) Subject: RE: BS: Partial lunar eclipse? From: GUEST, Topsie I heard about the partial eclipse (I think it was on the weather forecast) and then forgot to go out and look until it was just finished. Why am I so stupid?! None of the planets that pass in front of the sun cover enough of it to make a 'blind' bit of difference to the potential damage to your eyes. By the way, you can use the same viewing precautions to see sun spots. |

The fact that it is on the side of the moon which faces the earth proves that it was put there by aliens a long time ago as a "calling card" to let us know that they were here and will return someday. 09 Sep 06 - 01:04 AM (#1830479) Subject: RE: BS: Partial lunar eclipse? From: Kaleea So there was a full moon AND an eclipse? Does that have any meaning according to astrology? Cause if it was supposed to make me with the lottery, or something groovy like that, it goofed! |
09 Sep 06 - 02:29 AM (#1830497) Subject: RE: BS: Partial lunar eclipse? From: Bev and Jerry It definitely has meaning. You can't have a lunar eclipse unless there's a full moon. Bev and Jerry |
09 Sep 06 - 03:27 AM (#1830513) Subject: RE: BS: Partial lunar eclipse? From: GUEST, Topsie Just as you can't have a solar eclipse except at the time if a new moon. And thanks for the picture Amos, I don't feel so bad about missing it now. |
