OK - here goes.

Wheatstone 64 key Aeola, Ebony ends, 1923. (peak period)
Tenor - extended treble. Top playing condition, recently restored by Andrew Norman.
Quite possibly the best English you'll ever play.

I've been playing it professionally and she's very sweet, fast etc. A truly premier grade box.

I need to release some equity though, so she's got to go.

Insured for £3500 (at A. Norman's suggestion)
Am open to sensible offers - might even be persuaded to p/ex your old English or Duet system.

01302 321087 or email jon@talkingcat.co.uk

'Tina is in S Yorks - You're welcome to come and have a play, take the ends off, have tea/biscuits etc.

Cheers,
Jon

Don't do it! You've got two kidneys, but how many opportunities will you have in the future to get your hands on an instrument like this??

Yeah - It'll be a wrench, but honestly, I'm not a good enough player for an instrument like this. It should go to someone who can devote the time to playing her properly!

Cheers,
Jon
(good luck with the lottery everyone!)

English concertinas have a beautiful timbre, and they should be re-mass produced by a nationalised English Concertina Manufacturing company, thereby bringing the price way down for the folkie masses.

Are you advocating the "full" English walkabout?

Good concertinas were never mass produced.
Lachenal introduced some mass-production methods, but I don't think you'll find that applies to their top-of-the-range Edeophone models.

Hope yours finds a good home, Jon. Mary would have been tempted a couple of months ago but then fell in love at first squeeze with a 1914 56-key tenor treble that had just fallen into Steve Dickinson's hands. An overhaul and tuning from Steve and it's one of the best-playing concertinas on the planet. As seen (and heard) at festivals and clubs this Summer!
