Obit: John Sanborn

My good friend, John Sanborn died the day before yesterday from complications of lung cancer. He was a smoker. He was also a hell of a good guy, and a very good bluegrass musician. His sense of humor was drier than a baptist picnic. He wrote a song, a parody on Tonight the bottle let me down, that involved his wife and me. She is a loyal fan of mine.
I'm gonna miss him at the festivals. Damn the grim reaper, I'm running out of friends.

Sorry to hear about this, Captain. I just lost a very close friend, and the hole it leaves is almost unbearable. My condolences.

Mick

I too am accumulating loved ones on the other side. Sometimes I forget that on occasion one is granted a peek through the curtain and despair of ever seeing them again. But that peek, even if infrequent, is real and I must remind myself of that.

{{{{hug to Kendall and Big Mick

A bit of military talk is appropriate here,

"It's a drill that no one is excused from."

Sorry Kendall. As to losing friends, for everyone you lose, five more are waiting in the wings.

My condolences, Kendall. I agree with Sins, though each be unique in what they bring/leave us.

I've often thought that there's no such thing as a mid-life crisis. It's just that time of life that you lose your parents, friends, some old, some young to accidents and the dreaded diseases.
I was once told when the Aids scare started, talking about percentages, "Life is a sexually transmitted disease with 100% fatalities", that just about sums it up for me.

I too will miss John. I liked him well enough to actually welcome his negative remarks about my bring the accordion to a bluegrass festival.

If this Guest is Jets, I told them I asked you to play. There is more to the world than bluegrass.
