Oxfam - Oxjam

Are any of you doing fundraising events for Oxfam during October for their Oxjam?

http://www.oxfam.org.uk/what_you_can_do/oxjam/index.php

Quoting from the website...

"What is OXJAM?
Oxjam is Oxfam's biggest, most ambitious, music event ever.

We're asking musicians, promoters – in fact, everyone – to put on all kinds of music events during October to raise money for Oxfam.

Classical, club night, mambo and metal, it'll add up to one huge, UK-wide, Oxjam festival – raising thousands of pounds to fight poverty.

And we need YOU to make it happen."

Have sent for my goodies pack and have asked the musicians at The Boat session to do a fundraising evening one thursday in October.

Good to hear that Ray. Seems we are the only two Mudcatters doing anything.

Quite a bit going on in Shropshire.

Hi Ray & Fliss,

We've organised an all day gig here in Leicester for Oxjam, on October 15th at a venue called The Shed. There's two stages - one given over entirely to acoustic/folk acts.

You're right though, doesn't seem to be much happening folk-wise....most of the events local to me are at dance and rock venues.

Northampton seems to be the one exception - they're having a series of Oxjam nights at a venue called the Charles Bradlaugh, all featuring folk acts/singer-songwriters.

All the best,

Ian

Thanks Ian, glad to hear someone else is doing something.

GOt to get my raffle prizes sorted for tomorrow night.

Hoping Gen Tudor from Radio Shropshire is coming to record some of the session for her Sunday Folk Show.

Good luck with events.

Glad events are being mentioned. Am trying to keep this thread in view during October.

Had some good raffle prizes donated. Too good for a one off raffle, so have asked Bar staff if they will sell tickets behind bar during December. Then have a grand draw in the last session before Crimble.

Years ago I did some sponsored walks for Oxfam when I was at college. Twenty miles... doubt if I could manage 5 miles now.
