27 Sep 06 - 02:15 PM (#1844274) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Rasener The standard must be pretty good Al. I heard Dave & Julie's song at MRFC and thought it was very good. However the Lyrics are the critical thing, so who knows! Same as you Al, good luck to em all. |
27 Sep 06 - 02:24 PM (#1844285) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: John Robinson (aka Cittern) Great to see John Blanks in there, especially after the year he has had. In the words of his old rock and roll band, Go Johnny Go !!! |
27 Sep 06 - 02:24 PM (#1844286) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Strollin' Johnny Villan - I think you'll find that no. 7 is Mark Addison/John Blanks. JB wrote the tune and will be performing the song, but Mark wrote the excellent (IMHO!) lyrics. Not being critical, just trying to give credit where it's due! :-) S:0) |

10 Oct 06 - 04:29 AM (#1854689) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Rasener Won't be there, but having heard the songs from Mark Addison/John Blanks and Dave & Julie Evardson, and if they are anything to go by, the standard is very high this year. Good luck to the two above and also to Phil Brougham. A 1, 2, 3 would be nice :-) |

10 Oct 06 - 10:17 AM (#1854865) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Paco Rabanne Today, the government announced that Boston in Lincolnshire was 'THE FAT CAPITAL OF ENGLAND.' Any of you lads going to be writing a song about it? Flamenco, the true path, in green. |

11 Oct 06 - 07:54 AM (#1855696) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: GUEST,SJ at Work So, what time does it start, when do the artists need to be there, will there be a chance to soundcheck before the audience is in, do we need to bring any electrical kit (leads etc.)? I'm asking these questions on here because I've heard ABSOLUTELY BUGGER-ALL from the organisers, and it's not even mentioned on the BBC Radio Lincolnshire website! |
11 Oct 06 - 08:15 AM (#1855708) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Sooz Par for the course I'm afraid! Starts at 7.30pm, bad form to arrive after its started LOL No kit required and your first song is your soundcheck. That isn't nearly as bad as it sounds as the BBC are very good at that sort of thing. Generally Artists only get a seat if they've booked one as the theatre is always full. |
11 Oct 06 - 08:43 AM (#1855726) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Rasener Take a chair with you Strollin' |
11 Oct 06 - 09:07 AM (#1855741) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: the fence I was advised to be there for 7pm so that they could do a small sound check first. |
11 Oct 06 - 09:09 AM (#1855746) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: the fence Not sure of the difference between a small sound check and a big sound check though? |
11 Oct 06 - 09:15 AM (#1855755) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Tim theTwangler Sj makes a big sound so ........ |
11 Oct 06 - 09:22 AM (#1855761) Subject: RE: Lincolnshire Folk Song Comp Final 10 From: Strollin' Johnny Sooz, they may be good at soundchecks, but they're crap at communication. Words like 'piss-up' and 'brewery' spring to mind! :-) |
