28 Sep 06 - 07:20 PM (#1845514) Subject: Bellowhead : Burlesque From: *Laura* New Bellowhead album - what do people think? I love it but that was really to be expected.... I think it sounds just like them. That may seem obvious but it can be so disappointing when you get the CD of a band and it sounds completely different... I've got Bellowhead... in a box! And couldn't be happier.... xLx |

Personally I really enjoy their music, but have been known to get cross about the crimes they have comitted against some of my favourite songs! But on the other hand Bellowhead in a box...... |

29 Sep 06 - 10:07 AM (#1845956) Subject: RE: Bellowhead : Burlesque From: Ruth Archer My only question is why the're still re-treading a fair bit of the Spiers and Boden back catalogue. Surely the boys know a few more songs...? A big hats off to Mr Mandleson - the production is superb. They were lucky to get a producer with such an eclectic yet solid musical pedegree, who clearly understands so well what they do. Nice to see Rigs of the Time in there. Loving Peter Bellamy at the moment and learning that song at the moment, as it 'appens... |

There's definitely a gap in the market there... I like Burlesque, but haven't quite got into yet, whereas I got into the EP immediately. It's nice to have some of the songs that we've seen them playing this summer and I love the sloe gin/vinegar set of tunes. Now, back to Bellowhead-in-a-box... |

30 Sep 06 - 08:54 AM (#1846776) Subject: RE: Bellowhead : Burlesque From: *Laura* yes please...... ;-) haha. I had a bit of a chance to get into it at Towersey cos I was working for Mrs Casey and we had a promo copy to play 'for advertising purposes'. It meant that I was absolutely deperate for my copy to arrive and it was then of course two weeks late! I like Jordan and Across the line... and just... well - all of it really. But I was very glad to hear the stuff theyv'e been doing recently - and that it sounds just like them live! xLx |

30 Sep 06 - 07:34 PM (#1847194) Subject: RE: Bellowhead : Burlesque From: Planketta I like Burlesque, took a bit of getting used to, but its pretty good really. The only thing I dont like are the fake morris bells on one track, I'm not keen on morris bells as it is! Bellowhead manage to mix folk tunes with show influences and add a bit of everything. they're good at what they do and I certainly wouldnt mind Bellowhead in a box for christmas :) xxx |

01 Oct 06 - 06:06 AM (#1847429) Subject: RE: Bellowhead : Burlesque From: GUEST,Forsh (at Work) Well, I just ordered my copy from Amazon, so I will hope that it is as good as some have intimated! When I ran the thread 'Best Festival Act' Bellowhead came back from quite a few folks, so I have felt obliged to eliminate my ignorance in this area, I hope it is an illuminating experience!
