BS: American League Pitchers

Since the introduction of the Designated Hitter (boo hiss) has an American League pitcher batted? (Not counting inter league play or the World Series - just normal AL match ups).

Although unlikely I believe it is possible as if the designated hitter is substituted the pitcher has to bat (is this true?)

Cheers

I kinda like the ones that don't leak all over and pour easily.

It is true that if the designated hitter is taken out of the lineup the pitcher has to bat. I remember once that a pitcher was used as a pinch hitter in the late innings but I forget who he was. He had just been traded from a National League team and was used to swinging the bat regularly. It may have been Curt Schilling but I am not sure.
