Included 'A Taste of Ireland, Vanilla Fudge' Blurb on box says: 'The timeless mystical image of a cottage by the lake evokes a unique memory of Ireland - a special place, a land of beauty & many treasures. Take a moment to savour a taste of Ireland with this Vanilla Fudge & recreate the experience of a magical land'. Seems vanilla is a native of Mexico, & largest producer is Madagascar – don't know of any Irish connection?? And interestingly, appears name 'Vanilla' comes from same word root as 'Vagina'!! See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanilla . But again, what I don't get is the 'Taste of Ireland 'connection. Similar examples?? |

They made fudge in one house as per recipe from a diary from the early 1870's donated by a local person. However, the Ojibway (aka "Chippewa") people of the Northwest USA may have made some of the first known fudge, as they traditionally collected the syrup from the Maple trees & boiled it down to a soft solid form with which they could preserve the sugar for use in the coming year. Some Ojibway people still do. |
