Since my kids have been at school I have been to infant nativity plays, village meetings and I'm a school governor. Miss Read is responsible for the fact that it's always me sitting there trying not to giggle as I recognize elements and even characters from her books. She certainly had a way of capturing village and school atmosphere. If I'm feeling depressed or down the Miss Read books are a great antedote. I'm glad she's still alive. A light will go out when she dies. I wonder how she is? Love Lynne |
