Fred Gerlach's nephew, (Stephen Nicholas) Nick Gerlach, who learned guitar from his uncle, is better known as Jesse Lee Kincaid, member of The Rising Sons (1964 - 66). The Rising Sons played J. L. Kincaid compositions: '11th Street Overcrossing', 'The Girl With Green Eyes', 'Sunny's Dream', 'Spanish Lace Blues', 'Flyin' So High', 'I Got A Little' Fred Gerlach and Dick Rosmini used the 12 string guitar extensively in the early 60s Folk Revival. Jesse Kincaid was Events Coordinator for Bread & Roses for six years prior to forming Heart To Heart, a non-profit benefit organization founded and incorporated in June, 1991 by performers to alleviate some of the sense of isolation experienced by people confined in institutions by bringing them free, live entertainment. Heart To Heart provides performing artists with an opportunity for volunteer community service. Bob White used to sing it years ago, he used to play The Ark in Ann Arbor fairly regularly, became a male nurse I think, though he was still doing some performing, but I haven't seen anything at all about him recently. I always wondered who wrote the song. Thanks for the info and the memories. |

Rick Cunha is on both records and both sank without trace at the time. Available, and well worth a listen on a CDtwofer issued some years back - maybe still in catalogue? |

Likely from Harry Nilsson, but maybe the Dillards, too? I like Don's stripped down version the best. But it is a song for that age, and has Harry written all over it. And who else? Surely John Hartford would do this song proud. But in Don's version, I really hear Paul Siebel. A voice I do miss! |
