27 Oct 06 - 12:11 AM (#1869665) Subject: RE: Obit: folkinfo.org down? From: GUEST,Jon No, we are still there. I have had ongoing connection problems, mentioned over there which I can not resolve until after 11/11 and will involve some temporary changes my side (my ASDL supplier has been letting me down... can't even make a straight transfer, have to close a contract, etc...). Overall though, in spite of that, I'm showing over 150,000 hits for this month which for folkinfo would not tally with a long downtime for many users. I can only speculate that you have had awful luck (or something like that). Anyway, sorry about your problem and the one I am trying to resolve. Hope you get in on your next try. Jon |

06 Nov 06 - 01:52 PM (#1877568) Subject: RE: Folkinfo.org down? From: GUEST,Jon I'm not sure what is going on at the moment but Red Fox Hosting seems to have gone. This takes the Annexe down and is also preventing access to folkinfo.org as I use thier DNS servers. I'll post more as and when I manage to find out what the problem is. I just hope it is just a breakdown thier end... |

06 Nov 06 - 04:34 PM (#1877726) Subject: RE: Folkinfo.org down? From: GUEST,Jon Thanks Nutty but we had problems between about 5:30 and 7:30pm and it took a lot of other sites down too. It lost us the DNS so most people would not have been able to find the sites even if they were working. One suggestion is that this trouble has been a knock on effect from thefts at Level 3. I don't know but here is a report. |

09 Nov 06 - 08:34 PM (#1880760) Subject: RE: Folkinfo.org down? From: GUEST,Jon Just noting that as planned, I have switched over to using the shared hosting services. I've a little bit of "tidying up" to do but things seem to be working OK. There are no changes of URL but depending on whether an ISP is caching addresses, it may take a bit of time before this temporary location is accessible. I hope to switch back again ASAP and restore full services such as the abc converter, grphics, midis, etc. In the meanwhile, from the 11th Nov until I can get a new broadband supplier, I will be stuck on dial up... Thanks again, Fasthosts. |
