i don't know how many of you visit youtube website, but ive been there about most of the night and the bigger part of today!!!
WHY???
you can type in folks like bill monroe, don reno and red smiley, johnny cash, emmy lou harris, ralph and carter stanley... just to name a few, and spend hours looking at old films, video tapes of these legends from the past performing from all over the world!
i viewd the earliestknown video of reno and smiley performing " you're the talk of the town" pluse 4 parts of a demo show for a tv station and there are some great classic songs on that video alone to make it worth your time and trouble...
plus you sign up for membership there you can SAVE these classic peformances in a file for you!!!
man ole man..it's really neat!!
TRY IT...YOU'LL LIKE IT!!!

"I like the way I do things" - what way's that then? How's it different from finding clips you like, and telling other people about them in a thread, by posting a link - whch is how that thread works anyway?

I heard lawyers are drooling over the fair use copyright lawsuits that are aimed at youtube in the near future.

Did I say anything to imply you should, tarheel? I just asked what was different about "the way I do things",in this context, from the way other people did things. I was curious, is all.

All you people who are interested in Raglan Road can view Luke Kelly accompanied by Al O`Donnell in one of his best recordings of the song taken from an RTE programme, just do the necessary and go to Youtube.

I loved using Napster in its day...finding all sorts of great old recordings. I also am enjoying You Tube. But just for the sake of argument, can anyone tell me why one is OK and the other was the worst thing to ever happen to the artist?

I suppose it'd be because people generally don't go buying records of two minute lo-fi video clips of the sort YouTube mostly carries. So few people can reasonably say they are losing money as a result of stuff being up there.
