Pretty Peggy-O (definitive recording)

As some of you may know, I've been looking for the roots of Bob Dylan's first album. I've hit a dead end with the song "Pretty Peggy-O." What I'm looking for is a recording of how the song is traditionally done. Basically, a recording that exemplifies what people think of when they hear the title. The older the recording, the better. This needs to be a readily accessible recording so please, nothing too obscure and preferably on CD. Thanks folks.

That second link has a fascinating recording. Thanks. I'd still like to find a CD with maybe a commercial recording that Dylan might have heard if anybody can help. Thanks.

He appears to have gotten his version directly from the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, who recorded the same tune and pretty much the same lyrics under the title "Maid of Fife-E-O" the year before, in 1961 (Tradition 1022 or Delta 47063, on CD). The credit is "arranged and adapted" by Pat, Liam and Tom Clancy and Tommy Makem.

the Clancys' lyric:

Maid of Fife-E-O

Hope that gets you a little closer.

In the Digital Tradition we have:
   Bonnie Lass of Fyvie
   Bonnie Lass of Fenario
Notes to Bonnie Lass of Fyvio
The first two are lyrics and the third is Bruce Olsen's notes on the origins of the song.

I don't understand the concept. How do you have a definitive version of a traditional song?

What I mean is that even with traditional songs, there is usually a generally accepted idea of how they sound tune/melody-wise. For instance, if somebody was looking for a recording of "House of the Rising Sun", I wouldn't refer them to Lead Belly's version ("Down in New Orleans") because it sounds completely different from what most people think of as "House of the Rising Sun."

MacColl sang the most complete text of it I have heard, on the (Stinson?) album, 'The Best of Ewan MacColl' if I remember rightly, but it wasn't his best bit of singing.
