Tune Req: paddy and the rope

I have the words to this song about the two Irishmen who go into a church and steal a rope. Does any one know who has recorded it?

Tim Hart (& Maddy Prior) - on "Folk Songs of Olde Englande" - hmmmm ... was it Volume 1 or 2 though?!

Cheers! R-J

It was on Vol 2 ("Paddy Stole The Rope") - must be still available on CD

I've heard Sean Cannon sing it, but whether he recorded it I don't know.

The words are in the Digital Tradition HOW PADDY STOLE THE ROPE and there have been two previous threads, but no mention of any recordings apart from Tim and Maddy

I know it, having learned it from Sean Cannon. He sang it a lot when he lived in Coventry, so there would be the place to ask if you are in the UK.

I used to be able to labouriously work out the dots, and if no-one can come up with a recording, I will try to remember how. But don't hold your breath.

See thread Stealing ropes! for the original tune, transcribed to abc from Fred Albert and Frank Egerton's published music. Whether Hart & Prior or Cannon sang it to its own tune or to another, I don't know.

Folk Songs of Old England Vols 1 and 2 were available recently as a double CD (with Summer Solstice). They may still be available.
