Tech: Immortalia, Wherefore Art Thou

Where is John Mehlenberg's bawdy song site Immortalia? I just tried to access it for parodies of "The Girl I Left Behind Me" (an old thread reactivated today)--either it doesn't exist or I'm not allowed to go there, depending on the path I take.

A whois report on immortalia.com will give Melhburg's e-mail address. Ask him about it. My guess is that it's a permissions screw up after an update.

Mr. Google has never heard of www.immortalia.com.

The site certainly appears to be AWOL at the moment, but I have definitely accessed it withing the last month

John Mehlberg (note the spelling) is a member of Mudcat, so you could send him a PM asking for news.

John mailed me a disk with a copy of his entire site, so the information is available. He didn't say anything about shutting down, but immortalia.com disappeared just abotu the time I got the disk.

Joe, I got those disks from him too, but haven't loaded them onto my PC yet. Maybe he's in the process of moving to another ISP - hence the backup of the whole site. In that case it should be back in a couple of days or so

You could try the Wayback Machine AKA the Internet Archive

Speculation....Links, linked back, and he is perhaps, suspect-link, to one in a link, read the news.

Then again, a hedonistic, debauchery, that is undescriptable, occured in Thialand this past weekend.

ANY legitimate, folk-song, archivist would of placed the Northern Sector of Thialand in their "need to be present" column of their day-planner.

The good man sent me one, too, thank God.

Note that his proper e-mail is johnpatrick@, not johnmehlberg@

Is NOTHING sacred? Is NOTHING permanent? No.

I've got such stellars as all all Bruce Olson, The Anthology, Henkle, the Ballad Index, Bill Markwick's FolkFile and even that supposedly eternal Digital Tradition.

Today I needed to send a news group a link to a Gene Autry bawdy song. Oh well.

I hope all is well for John.

It could have been he had to take it off the previous server and move to a new supplier, hence the need to back it all up to DVD just in case.

I still prefer to think that John was abducted by aliens.

The H3 just completed an international gathering, in a "second world" country....aka limited net access for updating.

He alive, well, and bawdy.

Please visit his location.

YOU WILL HAVE FUN!!! The next six months should be full of new, traditional, and original material which was collected during the jungle travels of his "research."

Sincerely,
Gargoyle
