UK Visitor to Pennsylvania

My wife and I are coming over to a small Pennsylvania town (Glen Rock) for Xmas. Dec 15th - Dec 27th. We intend to spend a 2/3 days in Washington DC where we land. I have searched for the more formal concerts etc, (not much on as far as I can see) any US catters got any further ideas?

Draw a line from Baltimore horizontally, another from Maryland vertically, and where they cross on the Memorial Highway (I-83)that's Glen Rock. So anything in that area would be good too.

We are thinking of visiting Harley-Factory and the Martin Guitar Factory as well. Anyone got any comments on thse places as well?

Thanks in anticipation

Dave

It's a small world. I did a search on Glen Rock and realized that it is near the Delaware River and Milford, which is near the south end of the Delaware Water Gap (a beautiful National Park and Recreation area along the New Jersey/Pennsylvania border). The house known as Gray Towers is in Milford, it's a historic site, and that was the ancestral home of the famous American forester Gifford Pinchot. I visited the home years ago, and I just did a search on Gray Towers to see if I remembered it correctly. And I found that an old folksinging friend is in charge of the house. Now how appropriate is that, for sending a Mudcatter on a visit in the area? His name is Rich Patterson, and I'm sure he's the same Rich Patterson I knew from Federal Hall in Manhattan and who used to sing with Linda Russell.

Glen Rock area map and info.

The Martin Factory is a fun, educational, and interesting tour to anyone with even the slightest interest. Never did the H-D tour over there but did one a looooong time ago back when Milwaukee was the home of all things Harley.

Glen Rock is not near the Delaware Water Gap at all. It's along the Southern border of Eastern Pennsylvania, on the mian highway (I-83) betwen York, Pa. and Baltimore, Md.

Dave,

You won't be far from Westminster, MD, which has some great music. Check out Common Ground On The Hill. Unfortunately, it looks as though their concert series is monthly and won't have anything on while you're there. Cephas and Wiggins on January 6 looks like a great show.

If you are making the trek to Nazareth, PA to visit Martin Guitars, you might plan a visit to Godfrey Daniels in nearby Bethlehem, PA.

And in Philadelphia, you can check out The World Cafe Live.

Enjoy your visit.
