LOL! SINS you are a wonder. I needed this; today our mechanic said it looks like my car is totaled after all.... sigh.... Have been sitting here checking rates to rent a car so I can shop for a car, if you see what I mean.

I am laughing now though, thank you Sins and Mrs. Duck!

[giggle] This is fun. And it's not even my birthday yet -- about 4 and a half hours to go.... Actually it's about 26 hours. Mom said I arrived about 9 in the evening, totally disrupting a formal dinner party she was giving.

Good news indeed WYSIWYG! Amos I want some of whatever you're taking. You are fast with a rhyme!

What a bummer for your birthday Rita! Car problems huh? Then again, being stuck with Bill is a kind of bummer on a daily basis. You know what I can't take about Bill? On most issues of life, politically, philosophically, and several other "-allys" as well, he seems to be pounding sand down the same rat holes as I am. Then, also like myself, he is verbosity to the umpteenth power. I've also noticed that both of us can write 10,000 words on some silly ass thing or another, pouring forth logic and spewing verbage in sentences and paragraphs which others tire of reading/listening to after the words, "In my opinion." Pathetic as it is, both of us often throw in some two-cent line at the end which sums the whole works up perfectly but after rambling on for so long we are loathe to erase the crappola that preceded it.

How do you stand him? I think women such as yourself and Karen are born with inner ear problems which were left untreated in your childhood and now give you the ability to filter out 99% of what we say while providing us with the illusion that we are intelligent and respected. Karen has developed this into an art form where she is nodding and agreeing and responding with all the right stuff while she actually is making "to do" lists in her head. Behind our backs you give other listeners knowing little smiles and bribe them with cookies to listen to our ramblings without rolling their eyes or dropping off into a sonorous sleep.

I was told that you and Bill got together because you liked his car. Is that true? If so maybe you should have him see about getting a newer version of the same thing since yours has crapped out. That's a really dumb expression isn't it? Crapped out. I mean, what would crapped in entail? If it refers to "in" as "in your pants" then I would think crapped out would be a lot better than crapped in. But you never hear anyone say, "I'm really crapped in," for obvious reasons. Back to the car......

If what I heard was true, he had a bluish green Volvo sedan. I haven't checked Autotrader for your area, but I bet you could find another. It might even rekindle, although I doubt it necessary, your romance.   Wasn't it you I heard say, "There's something about an Aqua Volvo man?"

Happy Birthday................

Spaw

Rita, m'love, pay no attention to these hangers on, you know it is I who is your number 1 fan and acolyte. I sit anxiously at your knee awaiting any cast off sign that you know and acknowledge I love you and find joy and life's fullfillment doing nothing more than adoring you from afar.

Now ........ could we talk about that armoire???? I have a lathe too, y'know, and a really nice sized shop.

Happy Birthday to one of the truly great ones, make Bill take you out for a nice dinner.

Sometimes I think I understand every word I say.

It's the actual sentences that confuse me.

Ah, whatever. Be happy. You're worth it.

Aw.... My brain is too fried to say anything clever but I had a lovely birthday including a fine get-together with most of the ingredients for a happy life: food, friends, music, and triple-chocolate cake.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. As Bill said, I have been smiling a lot as I read this thread. So many names, and with most of them I have such a happy image of the person behind the name, and memories of real-life hugs. Ain't Mudcat wonderful?

Love,
Rita

I know how you feel, Andrew, about speech and sentence structures and strictures. The WAGES of sin I've never had a problem with, but it's the SIN TAX that kills me every year. I know they'll get a good stiff sentence out of me someday for my being behind on it and make me suffer for my convictions and convict me for my sufferings and all, but probably it won't ever be posted on a Mudcat thread.

As for you, Rita, I just hope you've found a good "hang-older" cure for the Morning (and Day) After. So drop us a straight line next year ar this time to notify us, and hopefully we can all do it again, should it be your wish.

Ohmigod Severn, I drop you too many straight lines already! Talk about suffering! But keep it up, Severn, IMO your agility -- nay, downright slipperiness with words is one of the wonders of the Mudcat world.

Here's Bobert complaining that he's late (when he isn't) for Rita's birthday thread, and he completely overlooked the spare vehicle (is it in Virginia now?) that he might have offered you as a loaner until yours is fixed. He just needs to ascertain the height of your garage door. Double-decker buses don't as a rule fit in the standard suburban garage--you might have to leave it out in the driveway.

Happy belated Birthday!

Happy Birthday Rita
Sorry I'm late here & that I missed it.
I hope Bill gave you my present. I ordered up some breakfast in bed for you & a massage. He's to do the shopping for the next week & the trash for the month too.
It's OK Rita I can afford it, I borrowed the money from Bill.

Well it's being a strain on Bill, carrying my breakfast up to the top story of Bobert's double decker bus, but he's doing pretty well with the trash -- just throws it down the stairs and out the folding bus door.

And hahahaha, I don't have a car and he is the only one who can drive the van so yes, he is doing the shopping too. But not in the bus, I hate being sloshed around through traffic when I'm trying to sleep.
