From (my not very reliable these days) memory, the chorus went something like: There'll be trouble over Bridgwater tonight There's going to be a beastly row all right ??? (Bah! can't even remember this bit) All over bridgwater tonight Maybe this fragment will help jog someone else's memory? The song was about a bloke who wanted to get revenge on the swine who stole his girlfriend, by flying over him and bombing him with manure, IIRC. |

The title is based on that of the S&G song, but the song itself is completely different and bears no similarity to the S&G song, or indeed anything else of theirs. The Wurzels used to mention it in their act, although I don't think they've ever sung it - they (jokingly) claimed that Simon & Garfunkel had based their song on their own song of that title (which doesn't really exist) - if that makes any sense! |

I've had more replies about that Tramere group and people asking if I didn't mean Bridge Over Troubled Water!!! BTW I have this running on a couple of forum so me net is spread wide. One thing I have found is that the LP is worth its weight in gold; all I have to do is find one in a charity shop! Thanks to all so far. |

I can't recall a single word of that particular song, whereas most others of his remain in my memory in some degree or another. I see that the LP came out in 1977 which may mean he wrote it later than my main contact with him. Kevin Sheldon, his co lyric writer and friend, who I think was mentioned in the previous thread was a great character. I recall one song they wrote about the fashion for men to wear old fur coats in the early 70's which we rehearsed and were going to record as a single and get on TOTP and be rich and famous etc. Wonder where that idea went...... Happy days and a sadly missed character. |

I'm pretty sure someone posted the words in Mudcat thread before - try searching for Piddletrenthide. I know the other song but I can't recall the words. |

I had the great joy of playing the song onstage with him and Trev and a few others at the Cambridge Folk Festival, but as an instrumentalist I can't recall the lyrics either!
