05 Dec 06 - 07:59 AM (#1900449) Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie GREAT! PA! a girl to talk to. I am off sick today and yesterday - not happened since 2003. I am much better today, but getting fed up catching up on two years' unfiled household bills and realising how much the electricity bill has doubled this year and starting up a new folder called 'pensions'. I've broken the shredder. Something for my Christmas list from my kids. I have 3 boys and they don't like buying anything that smells (nice) or has any pink on it. I know you have a son so you know the advantages - nobody pinches your flannel, comb, scissors etc etc if they are pink. Are you having a Works do? In the office or out and about? I hear from other sources that my new boss blows up condoms at Christmas parties - many will find this quite distasteful (!). We shall see. Do you sing and/or play at Folk Clubs? I am sorry if you have already mentioned that and I have forgotten. 'nuff questions for now Cathy |

05 Dec 06 - 08:51 AM (#1900496) Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Oooooo yes, girlie talk, look away boys. I've got a stinkie cold at the mo, passed on by just about everyone at work. Try not to keep old bills, just reminds us of how much money we have no longer got. Dont need a Pensions folder anymore, John Towers saw to that when Mg Rover folded. I have one boy he's 16 and doing GCSE mocks at the mo. He's bought me soft fluffy pink things for my car! for Christmas. No, having boys is a much better idea. Our company goes to the Hilton for our Christmas dinner and disco, this year its on Friday 22nd December and I even managed to get into the hairdressers on that afternoon, hows that for luck. Everyone in the company works really hard all year, one of our engineers does not get home from Bangkok until 21 December, and this is their way of saying thank you, quite unusual these days Whole evening paid for - brill. Our boss's are generally great fun, and yes the condon thing would be right up their street. We get to the local folk club as much as poss, but due to work hours and my other job its not as often as I'd like. My husband had a 140 mile round trip every day to work and we also have a livery yard with 9 horses on it. Thankfully only three belong to me. But we've got chickens and things, so its usually 9.00pm before I actually sit down. We try and get to concerts and stuff at the NIA or the Symphone Hall (fantastic venue), my brother works for the music industry and sometimes gets tickets. And no, neither of us play or sing - god, not in public anyway !!!, there's enough trouble in the world. Hope you feel better soon. |

05 Dec 06 - 09:29 AM (#1900525) Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Thanks for the news PA. You do work long hours! It must keep you fit - but cold damp nights can't be much fun. Your Dinner/dance sounds interesting and well deserved. I have 3 boys (no we're men, Mum) - twins of 22 and one of 18 (doing A levels)and trying to get into Broadcast Journalism next year. He spots a VIP at forty paces and runs up asking politely for a business card. He follows that up with an interview for the school mag or requests for work experience. He has interviewed the mayor and the local MP but my dictaphone seems to have gone missing. I hope he hasn't taped over my chats with old aunts for family research. I should have got a pink one! All 3 boys are between 6 ft 3 and 6 foot 6 and play rugby. There is a term at the rugby club - if they are playing on the same side and tackle someone together, the unfortunate is said to have holginated (from our name Holgate). Nuff of the proud Mum stuff - they are messy buggers and use too much electricity. Off to leave some electricity-saving-reminders around the house! bye for now x |

Only the man beside me said 'who the f is Ross?' I had a chance when Martin gave a stirring rendition of 'let's all go to Barton'. And lastly Ethel showed me a really quick way of getting there, past the Dahlias then a couple of quick turns - much easier than previous recommendations of 'pass the theatre then on and somewhere'. My guitar's nearly a year old. I 'll be pleased when it starts walking and doesn't need to be carried everywhere. More news about 'pick and squeeze' later. |

07 Dec 06 - 07:46 AM (#1902330) Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Oh Scrump - you are so right - it was Rag, Tag and Bobtail!! What a memory. Rag the hedgehog, Tag the mouse, and Bobtail the rabbit joined the BBC's "Watch With Mother" line-up in 1953. The series was adapted from the stories by Louise Cochrane and episodes were broadcast every Thursday afternoon. These three would embark on various gentle adventures, with mishaps and much ado along the way, but they'd always return home snug and sound to survive another day. I got my Tuesday and Thursday mixed up. I know I didn't like either day. Did a week full of happy endings make me the optimist I am today? Did Little Weed educate me into dealing with the Bills and Bens of everyday life? And did I resolve at a young age not to be anyone's Looby Loo? |

Of course you can borrow a horse Cathie, which one would you like, the fat one, the hairy one, the tall skinny snooty one, the muddy one, the little one who bites your legs, my sons pony that kicks anything it can reach usually my husband, the quick one, the plodder - or my mate Red who shags anything that moves (or that doesnt move quick enough that is)? I was pontificating whether to put a pony on 'naughty nightie' when I said rather loudly that I wouldn't mind backing that young filly. Lord Slough thought I was talking about his wife. Struck me on the head with a champers bottle and called me an oik. I mildly pushed him and he fell orf the fourth floor balcony. He landed on 'naughty nightie' and they rode orf into the sunset. Came third. I was led orf to the cells where my legs where exposed to rubber truncheons. I then had to sing 'o lordy' whilst running my tin cup along the bars until they could bear it no more. I was released and am now the proud owner of an ASBO (class 3 with merit) Lord Slough - the sausage magnate - owns a lido in Sidmouth - you must have met him at the last Hammersmith orgy for young debs |

21 Dec 06 - 10:31 AM (#1915761) Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA The buffet was very 'chips with everything', a gang of building were eyeing up the sandwiches and we were allowed an extra 10 minutes lunch, but the part-timers have to make up their hours next year. Nah, its our local Hilton. Same decor, same menu, but the carpark is more likely to full of muddy old landrovers and tractors rather than Rollers and helicopters. I've got a spanking new pair of wellies specially for the occassion. |

Just told him he's off to Chile at 10.25am on Tuesday 02 January 2007 for a month via Montevideo, at the moment its a one-way ticket. He's looking nervous. 3 proofs that Jesus was a woman: 1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food. 2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn'tget it. 3. And even when He was dead, He had to get up because there was work to do. Have fun everybody, this is the PA signing off until next year XX |

No need to apologise Ross - I didn't think you were coming and that you had mistyped. Life can treatcha kind or treatcha cruelle. |
