Lyr Req: An old fashioned song - by Doug Porter?

Subject: Lyr Req: An old fashioned song - by Doug Porter?
From: Pistachio

Back in 1978/9 at a British Military Foilk Club in 'West' Berlin, Germany I heard Doug Porter perform.
I bought his cassette but it was stolen from my car back in 1987 and I wonder if anyone is familiar with any of the following 'remembered' lyrics

..I just want to hear an old fashioned song,
Something with a three part harmony
-to break up - the bit - in the middle
Something .........
maybe a fiddle or a saxaphone

I'm sure I'll recall more words as soon as I hit 'send'
Any ideas would be helpful thanks,
Hazel.

From: Sorcha

????????

ARTIST: Paul Williams
TITLE: Old Fashioned Love Song
Lyrics and Chords

Just an old fashioned love song
Playing on the radio
And wrapped around the music
Is the sound of someone promising they'll never go

/ Em D C B7 / / / /

{Bridge}
You swear you've heard it before
As it slowly rambles on
No need in bringin' 'em back
'Cause they're never really gone

Just an old fashioned love song
One I'm sure they wrote for you and me
Just an old fashioned love song
Comin' down in three-part harmony

/ G - A - / C D G - / G - A - / C D /

To weave our dreams upon and listen
To each evenin' when the lights are low
To underscore our love affair
With tenderness and feeling that we've come to know

{Bridge}

{Refrain}
Just an old fashioned love song
Comin' down in three-part harmony
Just an old fashioned love song
One I'm sure they wrote for you and me

{Refrain}

To weave our dreams upon and listen to the song

{Refrain 2}
Just an old song comin' down
Just an old song
One I'm sure they wrote for you and me
Just an old song comin' down
Just an old song
One I'm sure they wrote for you and me

{Sing refrain and refrain 2 at same time to fade}

Sorry to report that Doug Porter died a fdew years ago, can't recall exactly how many. He had been in ill health for some time but kept himself busy researching the broadside collection in Derby library. One day while doing this he collapsed and died. A good bloke. Still remembered. Much missed.

Thank you all for your responses.

Sorcha, similar words but not the same song I fear - thanks
Ragdall and Burl, one hopeful and one sad message. Bother!
I wish I'd thought to ask years ago when I first joined Mudcat, that'll teach me.
I'll try the address in case of any music /tape availability.
