10 Dec 06 - 10:24 AM (#1905333) Subject: RE: BS: NO Hope for Decent Telly??? From: Rapparee I watch (mostly) the local news and the weather channel. We have four televisions in the house (long story!) and watch MAYBE four hours per week -- the local news and the weather channel. |

10 Dec 06 - 12:42 PM (#1905412) Subject: RE: BS: NO Hope for Decent Telly??? From: Bill D I have 60-70 channels of 'regular' stuff...(a lot of which IS crap) plus many, many free movies available on demand. If I WANT to watch TV, I can 'almost' always find something of interest on one of the travel, wildlife (Discovery), local access channels (even replays of a folk festival), local news, Cable news, C-Span (3 different C-Span....last night I watched FDR on Dec. 8, 1941 asking for declaration of War against Japan, plus the ensuing debate in Congress). If all else fails, I can watch 24/7 films of various Music/Art media from free Showcase or even listen to Jazz or Soothing sound as I go to sleep by choosing one of 30-40 music channels. Yes, I'm in a major metropolitan area with cable TV/Internet bundling. |

It used to be about wildlife, science, environment, etc., but over the past couple years it's all bikes, cars, industry, and junk. Daily Planet is the only show left worth watching, for me. |

11 Dec 06 - 01:37 PM (#1906548) Subject: RE: BS: NO Hope for Decent Telly??? From: GUEST Cable in the Maritimes is AWFUL. All home fix it, real estate, decorating and other crap that is cheap to make and is repeated over and over. Arts and E is all murder and mayhem, TLC is dreadful. I watch Bravo quite a lot and CBC newsworld but the rest is junk. Cable companies really need to give us more choice. I pay for a lot of unwatchabble telly. |
