I thought maybe a few here would enjoy a Sacred Chant from St. Anthony's Monastery (Greek) in Arizona.

They also provide over 2000 pieces of Byzantine music on THIS PAGE> with a sample clip in English. WOW!!

And, HERE is a downloadable program for writing in polytonic Greek. There are also a Greek Font Convertor and an Ancient Greek Hyphenator.

Thanks,

kat

Very nice and more than nice. Although I didn't really care for the organ.

Thanks, but what organ? All I hear are the voices, no pun intended.:-)

It was the drone chanters, mick/misophist; they were so pitch perfect and an octave apart, that they sounded like a machine-made sound. But real people they were, nevertheless.

Excellent chanting. But what really floored me is the resources these guys put together. Respect! Wow - I can see I'll be spending time poring over the website this Christmas.

Katlaughing, thanks for this link, you made my holidays!

Oh good, George. I was hoping you would see this and comment. Weren't their voices incredibly tuned?! Thanks! OH, and I want to see some of those Ancient Hyphens!**bg**

My friend told me about the website She is a cantor in WY and will be spending about ten days at the monastery this February. She is really getting back to the cultural roots of her childhood and ancestry and I am *hearing* a new *spirit* in her voice when we talk. There has been a lot of physical healing for her in the endeavor.

WOW!!!!
Thanks so much for this. For years this music has transported me - I can understand why music is seen by so many to be the direct line to their god.
