Just listened to an NPR clip about T J Thompson, a luthier, discussing the type of wood used in making guitar tops. Really interesting - you could hear the differencs in sound between species of spruce.

Good article. Dana Bourgeois, who preceded Thompson as a partner with Eric Schoenberg, has an interesting article on tonewoods at www.pantheonguitars.com/tonewoods in which he also refers to adirondack spruce as the "Holy Grail" of top woods. I have a few instruments with adi tops and they are really special.vl

P.S. Nice arrangement of Shebeg and Shemore played by Mr. Thompson (I guess) at the end of the piece.

We happened to hear it whilst driving around, yesterday. Very interesting and remarkable in the different tones, etc. How wonderful to hear each tree *sing!*
