Greetings one and every all!

At this time of year the questions start coming in- What is this-St. Stephens day celebrations, Wren, Wran....Wren Boys and why killing a bird. What do I do? What is done and Why? Some great stories! Some wonderful Customs. On behalf of the King of All Birds and St. Stephen Proto Martyr I send you this announcement in the hope that our work will assist you.

Whilst teaching classes in Irish Studies and Irish Culture over the years I received many inquiries concerning the celebration of St. Stephen's Day and the Wren Boys and the Wren Song. So...I gathered a file of information together. This file grew and grew. It became a web page and now after finding out that such a collection did not exist I have determined to remedy the emptyness and put a coolection of primary information together. A good collection for classroom use.

Never before has so much St. Stephen's Day material been put together in one place. It is our hope that this book- about 200 pages will fill the void and be useful for those wising to re-discover their heritage, feed their roots or just to learn of what is being celebrated and how to take part.

The order form web page is here:
http://www.bcpl.net/~hutmanpr/stevewrenorder.html

Believe me there is not a massive profit involved but any funds that make it past our creditors go right to maintenance of the free reference web pages of Hutman Productions- (see: http://www.cbladey.com)

We can accept payment via pay pal- more on the web about that soon.

We hope you will think of us as you do your Christmas shopping.

Have checked out the site and found you are in the USA. If you were in UK you might know of someone called Doc Rowe who holds and is daily expanding on the National Folk Archive. His work on Wren customs is seriously extensive but I still look forward to having a look at the book. Check out Doc's website. Just google Doc Rowe.

Hi Cats and a merry carolling Xmas to you.

Doc has an archive, true, but it isn't the National Folk Archive. It ought to be but it isn't!! It is still privately owned and run by voluntary contributions by some determined individuals.

You can access it here.

One source I have not checked.
Actully there are plenty of accounts of "wrenning"
Room in the book for only a few. These come from 19th century and turn of the century sources.
Will check it out.
Always looking for new songs and lyrics.
Again....so many variants. Generally a line or one verse changed a bit.
The book seeks to be a guide- extensive but not a totally complete collection nor folkloric analysis.

In any case search amazon and other places and you will not find such a good sized collection. Makes for good reading.
