Sinsull-

Put Judy and me down for the Deb Cowan and John Roberts concerts.

You're certainly not wasting any time clearing away the holiday debris!

Charlie,
This is just a heads up. Several people asked for the schedule so they could work it into work schedules. I will let people know about individual concerts as they come up.

Thanks Sinsull - very helpful. Jill Rogoff will be coming to the Getaway and has indicated she will do a house concert the week BEFORE ... unfortunately it can't be the Saturday as she has another commitment so am 'testing the water' on whether Monday 29th October, Tuesday 30th October or Wed 31st October would be better (logic being not Thursday because some people will be heading down to the Getaway that day). If anyone has any thoughts about preferences would love to hear them......it would be great to have a full house for Jill who will be coming so far.....

Peter Sousa?????

Peter (not Sousa) is either a black sheep or a stallion - I've met 2/3 of them and it is a bit hard to tell which is which.

And the fact they'll be in the area is wonderful news!! It's a long way from Yorkshire to South Portland.

I'd love to hear 'Two Black Sheep & a Stallion'. Got to meet & hear Peter at a Shanty Sing at South Street Seaport NYC with Charlie Noble & he'd be worth hearing on his own, I suspect hearing them together would be better than 3X the treat, though.

I'm hoping to get to see & hear Deb again, she's always in top form.

Sorry Mary, I still don't know when the CD project will be done so I still, as always, up in the air.

Did I also hear tell that you may be putting John Roberts on display too? He shows pretty well.

Barry - does this mean that we will be able to lure you up to Maine more this year?

There is definitely some good stuff going on throughout the year!

Ok, it looks like The Horse and Sheep will be coming on the 20th and leaving on the 28th of October, I have PM'd Charley. We are still putting it all together, travel, lodgings and finance, when that is done we will look at the bank balance but I think it will go ahead, I am the only one who would struggle cash wise but I will stuff it on the credit card and live like a hermit 'til christmas.

Hi Peter
If you can, why not take in the following weekend too (I think) & stay for the Getaway (I believe the 1st weekend in November?). There'll be plenty of folks traveling from the Maine/New Hampshire area & back if you can swing streching the dates, I'm sure that catter's in the Northeast will be able to arange transportation to & fro & toss you guys on a couch somewhere's. OK, we have 2 couches & a bed, OK. So can you swing streching it now, or at least think about it? You could also think of flying back from the Baltimore after the Getaway if that's works out to be better for you.

Barry

Mary - thanks for the heads up on the date change....as before, I will be there - not sure about Tom. I think there was talk of John Roberts concert being at my house -- all welcome - plenty of room and tons of space (beds and couches if people need to sleep over.....)

Jed Marum will be in Maine in July/August. Date to be set.

Wonderful - Jed Marrum is great -- don't know the other folks yet. I think his last concert was the first 'folkie' thing held at my house - what fun it was.

When I was in Jerusalem in January visiting my son who's studying there, I called Jill Rogoff. I had her number from the Getaway, and she's also listed as the "Folk Music Contact" in Jerusalem in the Fodor Guide to Israel. We had a nice conversation. Her husband Mike is the person who writes the Jerusalem section of the Fodor Guide, including information about shopping. Jill said, "He wrote the section, but I did all the shopping!"

Two Black Sheep and a Stallion is a trio based in Yorkshire who enjoy leading traditional drinking songs, and contemporary drinking songs that sound traditional. Members include Martin Bartlett, Peter Outhart and Ron Akehurst. They're fine singers and a lot of fun!

With lobster at $25/lb, all anyone will get is steamers. Hopefully, prices will drop later in the summer.

It's funny; when I moved to Texas from New England I thought I would really miss the seafood. I was pleasantly surprised, though to discover that Texas had wonderful seafood, albeit a bit different. BUT the one thing I really missed was NOT lobster. It was clams! I still have to eat my fill of clams everytime I return to New England. Wejust don't get 'em here. We do get the cherrystones from the Pacific northwest, and they are good - but ya just can't beat a mess of steamed long neck clams!

I don't know where you're shopping for lobster Sins, but in Scarborough it's $7.99/lb... and bound to get cheaper as the summer goes on. Picked lobster may be $25/lb but where's the fun in that?

.... gotta roll out very early on Sunday AM too, to get to Sol's in New York. I might get a start on Sat evening.

All depends on how good the clams are!

On my calendar!!! Sins - if you need a break and want to have this at my house, you are welcome..........I hate to boast, but Jed walked nto my house for the last concert and said 'oh, what a lovely room' about my library/music room...........' NOT boasting - oh no, wouldn't do that.....but in August, if we have a full house we can spill onto the porch

Jed, if you want to travel light, I have a very good guitar and a vintage Vega banjo with new tuners to lend.

No missus this year, and worse; I'm not allowed to borrow one this trip.

;-)

Thanks Kendall - I could use both ... I keep my banjo tuned to A but like to play some in G, and I'll have just one guitar so I could use an extra for open tunings ... thanks!
