This is great.

For more details, check this.

It's a banjo player's fantasy.

LOL, this is great, Pauline!

Where can I get such a banjo?

Sorry to copy a link to a second current thread but as a tenor banjo player, this is my fantasy. To play like Barney...

Hell, I'll be more careful with those banjo jokes in future... Thanks Pauline.

At last, a good use for a banjo!

If banjos are useless Jacqui, why did you nick Mary's one?

For goodness sake don't let Leadfingers see this!!!! Flashing lights in time with his plucking was bad enough!!!

Pauline-

Unlike "Guest Gargoyle" above I was rivited to the screen for the entire time.

Amazing! LOL

I must see what I can do to further empower one of my Stewarts so as to better deal with the slings and arrows of rude and unappreciative listeners.

Cheerily,
Charley "Banjo" Noble

That was just a tenor. Just think of the firepower available with a real banjo!

A single banjo player! Does he have a job?????
I laughed out loud at that one.

Mary got her banjo back, and I gave her a wonderful statue to hang it from. (Half price sale at the Christmas Tree Shop on Boxing Day)

He carries it by the neck, the tone is way to good considering there's a rifle stock in the body, and when he plays it, the music seems to come from somewhere wlse. And there's no brackets hold the head to the body. I'm going out on a limb here by saying that it's not a real banjo. (Really, Steve? Ya think so?)

Anyway, I would have loved to have one back in the days when people requested Dueling Banjos, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Panama Red, Fox on the Run, etc. (I play old-time clawhammer).

Or when I was a cop. I'd bring out my banjo, the bad guys would break out laughing, and I'd kill them. HAHA. Actually, I did carry a harmonica in my patrol car, but it's useless as a weapon.

Steve

Wonderful!

I knew banjo playing could be deadly, but I wasn't thinking of it that way! ;-D

PS,
Don't tell Hugh (The Banjoest). He'll want one.

Don't trifle with the Rifle Banjo Man,
Or you'll soon regret your folly;
If you smirk or joke or ridicule,
You're nothin' but a damn'd fool,
For you'll be gunned down in a volley!

Charley "Banjo" Noble

Was that a 'Peacemaker' attatched to his banjo, although banjos are not known for being restful.
Personally, I prefer poison darts in the penny whistle, much quieter and dammed efective. I remember seeing that film years ago, it was just toooooooooo corny for words. ;-}

That was overkill. Why, the sound alone would be enough to kill a man, or five.

Going back to the fifties, I always remember LVC as a baddie in so many Saturday morning matinees, Hopalong Cassidy, The Range Rider, God knows how many others he played bit nasty parts in. He always caught my eye as an actor even then! Much under-rated!

This revision of my above verse may work better as a challenge:

Don't trifle with the Rifle Banjo Man,
There's more to him than you may understand;
If you smirk or joke or ridicule,
You're nothin' but a damn'd fool,
And it's on boot hill by sunset you will land.

A working tune would be either Tom Leher's "We'll All Go Together When We Go" or Bill Gallagher's "We All Run Naked Through The Trees," both fine inspirational songs.

Come on, gang, demonstrate some creative spirit, as long as this thread is above the BS line.

Charley Noble

Imagine what Bela Fleck would do with a simlarly equipped
instrument. He'd probably whip out the '1812 Overture'
complete with gunfire for punctuation.

Saw the video of this. Hated it. Why should a musical instrument be used as a gun?
Dumbest thing I ever saw. Kinda' like Hollywood D movie.

Now the banjo is a weapon for peace in the hands of Pete Seeger.

Why not emulate that?

Frank

Dueling Banjo???
I've got this note I think you should hear.
Tune up or load up.
This one will bring down the house.

I think it's neat to see Gargoyle admit to his teeny weeny attention span- what a Bozo. And Frank, good grief.....get a sense of humor! This is just a riff on all those banjo player jokes- it doesn't relate to Pete or peace or anything else....JUST A JOKE.

I've seen many accordions kill at 200 yards...... ;~)

PS. How about 'Killing Me Softly With Your....BANJO' ?
No forget it, that doesn't work either, the muse is not 'pon me at the moment.

Frank-

Banjo's don't kill, or make peace either; it's the people who use 'em.

Certainly, I would agree that Pete Seeger is a master at using the banjo to help bring about a more peaceful and human world. Most likely the Rifle Banjo Man would make less of a contribution, but he sure is a straight shooter!
