Words learned in a song actually go to a different part of the brain, I think--the recall mechanism is not the same as if you encounter it when you're quietly reading. SRS |

It's supposed to be a test of how well-read one is, not how well-crammed. When I took my college entrance tests, there was one question that required recognizing circular thinking. None of the choices mentioned circular thinking, but one did offer "seems somewhat tautological." I didn't know what tautological meant, but I chose it. When I looked it up, I found that that was the right answer. The phrase "somewhat tautological" has been part of my lexicon ever since. |
