BS: UFO at O'Hare

07 Jan 07 - 11:56 AM (#1929208)
Subject: BS: UFO over O'Hare
From: SINSULL

According to last night's news report, several workers at Ohare Airport reported seeing a UFO which hovered near the airpost then took off at high speed into the clouds ripping a large hole in the cloud cover as it went.

This is a "rare" occurence and authorities are saying it was a weather situation which created odd light effects.

Anyone else see this report?

Yes, I saw it on CNN headline news last week (the sighting was in Nov) and mentioned it in Mudcat Chat. Also found a link on NPR news web site.

The reports of witnesses are being ignored, and eventually that is what hit the news. Interesting stuff, eh?

"There's nothing in the duty manager log, which is used to report unusual incidents," said United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy. "I checked around. There's no record of anything."

Well, that makes it perfectly clear, doesn't it? Nobody chose to write anything down about it, so it didn't happen!

Sins -

There's a report in the "Read it in the Newspaper" thread from about a week ago, immediately preceding your post that "I read about it." The next post (03 Jan 07 - 06:11 AM I think) is actually more interesting for the link to some gorgeous "UFO-like" cloud pictures.

One of the air traffic controllers commented what a "bummer" it was:

"They come six light years to O'Hare and have to go back home because their docking station is occupied. That's just unacceptable."

OOPS. Mistaken identity. That wasn't you that read it in the newspaper.

Apologies.

Maybe they realized they forgot their passports. And trying to pass themselves off as Canadians wouldn't help anymore.

They probably just forget to call ahead. SOP now requires any scheduled plane flying into O'Hare to have landing clearance (and gate assignment) before it takes off from the last prior location.

And they still get "stacked" in holding patterns sometimes.

back in the 50's , 60's and even 70's,when very few peolpe owned a decent camera of any kind, photos were made of "objects" in the sky from everywhere!
of course they all were UFO's of some kind!
but most of those sightings were never verified or at least explained!
today,in our world of technology, ever wonder why we don't see great video or photos of these UFO's anymore!
let's face it folks!
everyone has a good camera, a digital telephone camera, and even just plain good or great Digital Cameras!
i mean...there is always great video or photos of even plane crashes, automobile wrecks in progress, robberies in progress,murders,break-ins,just plain ole nieghbors stealing from one another, spectacular interstate highway accidents, disasters, more tornados than we have ever seen in our lives, valcanos errupting, land slides, floods , hurricanes, psunami's...you name it folks...if it happens anymore, someone gets it on TAPE...even saddam was seen swinging from a rope with his neck broken...and,who could ever forget seeing one of our own citizens in this country having his head cut off by a terrorist with a butcher knife and even hearing him choking in his own blood, too!
AND, as the info commercials go...BUT WAIT!!!
no UFO's anymore...maybe a shooting star or video of a rocket booster breaking up and falling back into the earth's atmosphere!

and..dont forget the amazing video of Discovery breaking up and falling in pieces across our country on it's landing approach!
but still...no UFO's anymore...no terrific video of Aliens landing on our earth or even taking earthlings hostages as repoted so often in the,no one has a camera, era...
belive me,i carry my digital camera with me everywhere i go and i am a retired professional news photographer and i look for those kind of things every where i go, now a days!!
but nothing yet!
all i'm saying is...if UFO's and ALIEN creatures exit, then i want to see one and photograph it and it's alien being inside!
STAY TUNED!!!

GUEST of 3:12 p.m. has a point, seems to me. The omnipresence of good to excellent image-taking equipment would lead one to expect that there might be SOMEONE who would catch such an event. But nil, zip, nada! It tends to make one wonder about the realities.

Ghost sightings have suffered similarly with the advent of technology. There used to be hordes of the buggers traipsing about with heads under ars etc.

Guess the aliens have abducted them all.

We have a lot of those "objects," "unidentified," "flying," around the fishin' holes here. You learn to keep yer mouth shut, cause they'll gag you if they fly in.

It wasn't Discovery that disintegrated on reentry, it was Columbia. Discovery is still flying, along with Atlantis and Endeavour.

A few years ago, on Halloween night, I saw three major UFOs. I was estatic. They were so high that their motion was imperceptable, and they formed a large triangle in the sky. I would have just taken them for bright stars, but each one was leaving a bright trail, the curves of each trail matching to show that they were flying in formation.

It was the first indication I had of developing cataracts; the streaks only showed up from those brightest points, which I guess were planets, and I still don't quite get why the appearance of the "trails" was so stable and consistent. The neighbors son and a couple of his buddies may still think I'm crazy; it's the only time I met them, and I kept going on about the "phenomenom" that obiviously was only visible to me.

I once saw a meteor in broad daylight. It was like a large lump of hot coal which whizzed through the sky from horizon to horizon in about half a second. This was in Eastern England about 25 years ago. This, of course, was not strictly a UFO because I could make a reasonably good guess about what it was.

I would like to think that there are intelligent extra-terrestrials. Until recently the odds of them existing was about 50:50 for and against (ie.no evidence either way). With the recent discovery of numerous extra-solar planets those odds are now slightly in favour of the 'aliens exist' position. I still don't expect to know for certain in my lifetime, though.

Actually, the Galaxy may contain several alien species (perhaps hundreds or thousands) - and perhaps some of them won't be friendly. Scary stuff if you think about it - just imagine the firepower of a species that can cross interstellar space!

I saw a beauty once - cigar shaped, lights all round like a proper flying saucer, hovering in the sky . . .

Turned out to be a balloon/airship/dirigible that they use in Aldershot to train parachutists and they were doing a night-time exercise - but as far as I was concerned it was unidentified (and flying) until I saw it in daylight and realised what I had seen.

ha! I've found a photo of a UFO

http://www.airphotousa.com/Funstuff/Samples/fullsize/denver-ufo.jpg

After some study I've concluded that it might be a drop of water on the camera lens, or it might be one of those filmy stains that's left when water evaporates from your lens (as seen on many a pair of binoculars). But the site SAYS it's a UFO.

Don't be skeptical just because the URL contains "funstuff," either.

My god, it's a huge Charlie Brown head!!!

Anyway, the shadows cast by the three central objects inside the big blob are being cast in a different direction than the shadows of teh trees below which indicates that the lighting where the blob resided was not provided by the sunlight below.
